I watched the Jay Leno's Garage video and Ed Welburn said that they had the younger generation in mind with this car. He went on to say that the C7 is already in the Gran Turismo 5 video game. That right there points to GM marketing ploy. Also all the video displays in the gauge cluster shows it is aimed at the younger group. I realize that all new cars are going to this feature. But I seem to remember the C4 when it first came out there was a lot of unhappy people with the gauge package in it.
I guess we will have to just sit back and see exactly what group buys the C7. I am sure many long time Corvette owner s will be lined up to purchase one, but how many of the Gen X group will be.
Reading the C7 forum, I too have been amazed at the frenzy that the unveiling of the prototypes has generated. While the design, like it or not, is striking, it's pretty tough to judge things like seating comfort, drivability, and build quality based on photos of a handful of pre-production samples. While it's certainly exciting to see a new generation of Corvette being unveiled, it seems a little premature to pass final judgement. I've even seen serious threads about what it's like to drive the C7 in the GT5 video game.I think the C7 will be a success and will outsell the C6 ... certainly based on recent sales volume. I find myself unwilling to express any strong opinion of the car, given that I've never seen a real one, never sat in one, and never driven one. I have learned that is unwise to express any negative reaction to the C7 though, since that unleashes a chorus of "C7 hater" venom. For now, I'll just say it looks like an interesting design and I'm looking forward to seeing some real world feedback after the car is in production.

I have decided to hold my final judgement till I can go to my local dealership and sit in on and give it a good going over and may be even take a test drive.

. If he had googled it, he'd have learned 'baby boomers' are from '46 to '64. Therefore the Gen X is from '65, not '60
(I'm from '62, by the way). Anyway, I agree with the article from what I've seen with my 2 daughters. Plus they fail to comment GM, in their quest for younger buyers, alienated some of the current C6 owners with all the electronic crap, including me (I'll skip the C7 for sure). Just like the guy above explained, it just doesn't look right. And looks like a Mustang from the side now. And that's not a compliment
. Plus the jury is still out how the car is going to feel with electric steering and electronic differential. Plus all other electric/electronic crap mentioned, including parking brake, Atari dash. And finally, all the crap added to the engine that only made it heavier, bulkier, more complex, and only 14 HP better. Plus at least as heavy as a GS. Not the 3K-lb 'revolutionary' car GM promised. Not by a long shot. I suspect it'll sell well initially, obviously. But overall, I predict it won't outsell the C6 in the same # of years it lasted, which was 9. Heck, I doubt it'll last 9; with that 'robocop' look, it'll look dated much earlier IMO. I'll follow it with interest. It just didn't stir my soul one bit. Some cars 'grow' on you, but you have to like them some. This is not a bad car, but no way it justifies its price. Maybe when it's discounted 15 grand, it might sell well. Wish GM good luck though.

He's making some predictions, and it will be several years before we know if he was correct. But he presented logical arguments to support his position, and I have wondered/worried about the same things.
