Is the extra money it costs to buy a 06 worth it over a 05. Alot of good deals out there on 05s

Get the 06, smaller steering wheel, stronger rear end and no more column lock. Its only a bit more

Also if you are looking at the automatic, you will get the 6 speed auto with paddle shift over the 4 speed auto without paddle shift.

avg difference all else equal is $1500. there just happen to be a lot of 05s for sale right now. this and next year should be prime c6 buying time. more cars will be popping up as owners trade for the 7

the 05 A4 auto is stronger than the A6 auto and has no column lock.cant go wrong with either. just depends on how you intend to use it.

Just look for deals, I thought I was in the 08/09 price range and wound up with a '10 because the deal was right, the miles were low, and the car is cherry.

Here is how I see it:

The 05 is awesome. The 06 is even more awesome. I could be happy with an 05, but I wanted an 06 at the minimum. They kept making further improvements in later years, too.

If you're going to throw serious power/abuse at it, go with the 05' because you can build the trans to handle it.

Otherwise, get the 06'

Depends on how you are going to use the car. As a DD, I would say either. I loved my 05 with auto, especially after putting on headers and tune. No problems with the rear end.

C5 vs C6 = 1st year car versus 1 with the bugs out of it. IMHO (which is why I bought a 2006!)

we really like the 05 the wife has
sweet ride
i say get which ever one you like, i don't think you can go wrong
sure the 06 has the better rear housing assy
i'd only consider that over the 05 if i were getting a stick and wanting to launch real hard

plus to the 05, get more fund $$ to sweeten the ride up
