Default door panel tools

I'm going to be changing the speakers in my doors sometime soon and was looking at tools for popping the panel clips. I see this 4 piece tool set, they are made of plastic and range from $8 - $12. Has anyone used this type and do they work? I do not want to spend money on steel ones to just use once and then keep moving them around the tool box because they are always in the way. lol. They are on all the major parts store web sites and even on ebay.

Worked for me. The plastic was just fine. Use in conjunction with an old credit card and some blue tape to protect surfaces and you'll be just fine.

I've used this tool more than I imagined, for various cars/projects over the years. Quite handy!

I should have bought one of those but forgot to get it....

So when my speakers arrived I said WTH and went for it without a tool.

At the bottom of the door panels near center is a notch about the size of your four finger tips. Just tug there and it will pop out, once you get it started...no problem.

BTW there are several how to threads with pics that show step by step how to remove/replace the panels and upgrade speakers.
If you dont find, let me know. I will find you the link.

Cool thanx. I normally just rip the door panels off of my Z28 but I want to be a little more Gentle with the Vette.

I bought a very inexpensive set of plastic pry-tools from Harbor Freight.

Sears has them too.

Worked well.

Be sure and search out the DIY thread. There is a trick you can use to reinstall where you use a shoestring to make it easier

Buy new pins and sockets because you will break a few pins removing the panels. Do not buy them from GM. Buy them here: http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Sea...x=0&Search.y=0
