Default DIC problem

I have a 2008 Z06 and when I go to the DIC option button to change the settings, I get a Options Unavailable message. I checked the owners manual and I couldn't find how ro reset it. I tried the other FOB and got the same results. Anybody run accross this before?

Usually, that message indicates you are using a FOB that isn't programmed as #1 or #2. Only FOB's programmed as #1 and #2 will access the memory settings. FOB's that have been added will be #3 or #4 and will functionally do everything except access the memory settings. And just for info, it doesn't matter what number is stamped on the FOB. What matters is where it is programmed into the system.

Is this a new symptom occurring that has worked in the past?

like above asked, is your fobs the first 2 used on the car or did you have them added later , so in reality they are 3 and 4th.

the reprogramming thread if you want it is,.....
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...tructions.html

fyi.. i think this came from a user manual..

OPTIONS UNAVAILABLE: This message is displayed
for a few seconds if a keyless access transmitter
that is not labelled 1 or 2 is used and you try to
personalize the features on your vehicle by pressing the
OPTION button. The personalization system will not
recognize the transmitter and the DIC will not display the
current driver number or the menus used to set
personalizations. The personalization features will then
be set to the default states. See DIC Vehicle
Personalization on page 3-67 for more information.

p.s. i also agree that whats stamped on the fob is for your use only. the order they are programmed is the number the car knows them as. so the note of'labelled 1 or 2' really should be... programmed as 1 or 2

What ChevyDave said. In your 2008 owner's manual, that information appears on page 3-63.

I purchased this car in December trading in my 08 coupe and one of the fobs worked to program memory settings, but I don't remember which one it was. They are numbered 1 and 2, but niether will work now.

Use the long programming option and reprogram both of your fobs, one as #1, and the other as #2.

Problem solved.

I went throught this as well. Your current fobs are programmed as either 3 or 4. Regardless of the markings on the back of the fobs.

You will need to use the long programming method to reset them to 1 and 2.

Here is a nice guide on how to do it. Take note not to have any fobs near the car when starting the process.

It sounds scarier than it is. It just takes time. Make sure you have at least 0.5 hour before you start as you have several 10minute countdowns in the process. Good luck.
