Great idea - interactive weight reduction spreadsheet
I just had a great idea. Its an interactive online spreadsheet which will tell you how much your car weighs with different options, wheels, headers etc.
I might try building the beginning of it today.
You pick your car 2008 1LT, then it tells you the stock weight with stock wheels, tires, headers, exhaust. Then you change the wheels in a drop down to one of 5 different options. Then you pick your tires and it recalculates the weight giving you new weight and a delta.
These are the same calculations we all do in our heads. I think I can build it with google docs using a google spreadsheet backed up with interactive forms.

There is a parts weight list graph in the Z06 subforum (a sticky) that might help with some of your research.
The easy part will be building the interactive spreadsheet - with several thousand variations based on year, trim, and option levels (ignoring aftermarket of course). The hard part will be dealing with all of the type-A retentive types who will be hounding you to correct what they feel are various errors or omissions.
There has been some notable variation in "reported" weights and "I took my car to the weigh station and..." in the real world - so don't forget that big asterisk.

I spent about 2 hours on this and am building it with jQueryMobile.
That way it supports smart phone access and it makes the UI easier.
I'll host it sometime next weekend and will be ready for feedback.
