Introduction, Corvettes and Motorcycles
Just curious to know how many 'vette enthusiasts are also motorcycle enthusiasts. I just bought my first Corvette, 2011 C6 Convertible. I ride about 20,000 miles a year on motorcycles. My girlfriend and I take longer trips on our Goldwing or BMW R1200RT and I ride solo on several other vintage and classic bikes; BMWs, Triumphs and Nortons, mainly.
Anyhow, I had been thinking about "duplicating" the motorcycle experience on four wheels instead of two. It seems that a convertible would give us more options with weather, more safety, etc., yet still get the visceral experience that we love while riding bikes.
I plan on selling the Goldwing (actually, I have two, the other is a sidecar rig) this spring. We will still have the BMW for longer trips, and I will keep some of the vintage/classic bikes for my solo riding.
So, in addition to my introduction as a new corvette owner, I was curious to know how many other people on this forum also love to ride motorcycles.
And thanks to all who have tirelessly answered my questions which helped me make a decision on which car to purchase. Interestingly, I was initially looking at a Mazda Miata, but the folks on the Miata forum were quite insistent that I would probably be better served with a Corvette instead of a Miata, based on my requirements and preferences. I thought that was pretty cool of the Miata folks.
Regards,
Chris McCarthy

2009 BMW K1300S here. Only use it for trips to the mountains/twisties though. Put 3 to 5K miles a year, but always looking forward to my next trip. Planning for an overnighter to Big Bend soon.

I sold my R6 to help with the down payment on my '13 GS coupe. I rode that bike all the time when I was in college, a little tip for the guys although there probably aren't many college aged kids in here, but own a bike in college and you'll have to try NOT to get laid. But as a business man now, I can't really ride to work in my suit, so it was rather pointless.
I'll own another bike eventually, but it will be something a little more comfortable. Probably get a custom chopper.

I have been riding bikes for almost 40 years. I always said I wasn't smart enough to get out of it. I converted my '08 Goldwing into a trike back in '10 and love it.
