Default PSA: Hood strut replacement

One strut will not hold the hood open on a standard C6 hood. I should have a pretty cool bruise on my arm in a couple of days. Use something to keep it propped open. I disconnected one strut and the hood did not waste any time coming down. That is all.

Most newer cars use hood lifting struts now, and not uncommon for them to go bad. While not my Vette, had my share go bad. Try and buy some with a lifetime warranty, and save the receipts.

Same for the rear hatch. I used a helper so I still have all 10 digits.

Glad you were not hurt badly

When installing new rear speakers I had to remove the struts. Per a "how to write up" I found I tied a small rope to the rear hatch and attached it to the track for the garage door. Little late for your application but maybe it will help the next guy

Glad it wasn't any worse than a bruise

Funny how things seem like a good idea at the time and bang....you're kicking yourself thinking I should have known better.
