I have one I use for my trips from florida to new hampshire and back and I think it is great. It takes two minutes to install or take off and protects the paint.
I did not go with a clear bra as i have seen them discolor on higher milage daily drivers like my car.
I had one for my 2005 Coupe and now have obe for my 2012 GS.

If it will be for long distance highway trips, maybe look at some race wrap instead. I am sure that is not the technical name for it and I don't know if any forum dealers sell it or not. It is basically heavy duty plastic wrap; you may have seen it on brand new cars when they are on car carriers (I think Audi uses it). I remember reading about it when researching track days around these parts. It looked like it would be ideal, albeit, a little ugly (so is a bra) for road trips.

I got a GM bra and the little mirror bra-ettes and generally have only used them for long trips. They do prevent stone chips, but, dirt can get under them especially on long rain events...which it seem always occur during any long trip I take.

Here is my Speed Lingerie bra. Before that I used GM's bra, but wore out after 5 yrs.
I haven't driven without a bra since I bought my DSOM.
And "no", the paint isn't darker underneath the bra because the sun doesn't get to it!
Just use common sense when putting it back on, like cleaning/waxing the paint and cleaning/vacuuming the underside of the bra.
I like my black/DSOM combo. Brake calipers are the same, DSOM w/Corvette lettering in black, thanks to Mike the Powdercoater!

I don't think there are any cons to getting a bra for extensive road trips.
But if you're looking for more of a permanent solution, I'd seriously look into a clear bra.
It'll cost around the same as a bra if you install a pre-cut kit yourself but unlike the bra, it'll protect your car 24 hours day without being an eyesore.

The last bra i used on the front of a car left marks from beating against the hood when flapping at higher speeds

no issues.,,does just what you need for trips...used mine last when i went to AZ..really works, really helps...and i just wash it off in the sink in my garage..takes about 2 min to snap on and about 2 min to snap off.......

Bugs and chips are testaments to cars that are driven. Just got back from a 4,788 mile road trip, bringing my total mileage to almost 108,000.
