Hey everybody I would like to know some info I'm 20 and I'm going on buying my first used corvette.. My two options are 2002 c5 zo6 or a 2007 c6 ls2.. The c5 zo6 is 21000 with 45k miles and the c6 ls2 is 19000 with 77k miles.. I was thinking that's alot of miles but than again I really don't know alot about these motors so I was wondering are both good options and which one would u get and why.? Also which one has mor performance potential.. Thank u for ur time in advance
That could be a great buy for the C6. A quick NADA check shows its value 5-6k higher than the C5Z with the stated miles. Check for accident and repair history (on both). Of course there are other factors to consider such as options and condition. C6 is a bit more refined from what I've read here, but I test drove a C5Z a few years back and loved the raw experience.
Daily driver or weekend fun car? Is the C6 auto or stick? Which one has your preferred color? Test drive both and then decide. But decide quickly, that C6 won't be around for long unless there's more than meets the eye. A quick autotrader search shows a couple of 05s with higher miles than yours for $20k and an 07 with 92k mls for $19.6k.
Just noticed that you're 20, you may want to check with your insurance company as well to see how much they'd charge, the Z may be classified as a high performance vehicle by them and cost more.
I'd get the C6 just because it's nicer inside and for looks. The C6 won't look as dated as the C5. If you were looking for a track vehicle, I'd tell you to get the C5. Check your prices, make sure you can afford everything that comes with a Corvette: Insurance, tires and gas money!
What color is the C5Z06? Regardless, 21K for an 02' Z06 is high especially w/ 45k miles. If you like the Z06 , offer 17K and see what happens. I would not buy a vette with more than 50k miles....no matter what year it is. That is my personal preference....
Once you drive a C6 and a C5 , you more than likely opt for the C6. Flip up halogens is so "yesterday"! I was in the same scenario as you but once I drove the C6 , I knew that the C5Z was no longer on my radar.
Thank u everybody I'm really really appreciating ur replies and really like what I'm reading.. It's going to be an daily driver for me and I'm also aware about my insurance. But for some reason that seems pretty high for me on the mileage for the c6.. Maybe it's not but that's just what I feel.. I just sold my mustang a week ago too for my down payment on the c6 or c5z. And both cars do check out good on the carfax
