M6 to Auto - how many have switched?
When I purchased my 2009 C6 I swore I would never own a Corvette with an auto trannie. But now it is 4 years later and the 09 was sold last summer and I am looking for a 2013 with an automatic.
Two ACL replacements and one broken left arm have opened my eyes I am not getting any younger and made the decision my health might limit my driving if I bought another M6. Anybody else go from a M6 to an auto? Any regrets?

Age got my left ankle before I bought the C6, so I knew I didn't want to suffer the clutching. The A6 is a pretty good substitute in my case since I'm no longer competitive and "do the cruise". Top down and life is good.

I just switched over from A6 to M6... I regretted getting an automatic since the day I bought my 06 VY Base. I feel like I get the true driving experience with the M6 and feel more confident that I can control the car better. But I will say, I beat up on a few C6 manuals with my A6 JUST because of their driver errors (slow shifting or missed gears), and felt pretty good about it.. although I thought it was kind of a cop out!

Had stick shift cars all my life, few years ago just got tired of shifting. My Mustang was hard to get consistency out of at the track and I put a built auto in it as well.
I would like to have a 427 vert as well but don't see that in the financial cards. I barely have time to drive the GS. My Grand Sport with an auto is perfect, no regrets, love it.

My Last was an Acura TL-ML6...
I absolutely loved everything about the car... except shifting gears in Atlanta traffic.
My wife drove it once and decided she was done with standards.
Needless to say, that was four years ago and I have had Automatics since.
I am now OK with just sitting in traffic relaxing waiting for it to move.
The C6 Base Auto makes enough power for me.
And it is easy to service. Even having to jack the rear end to get out the four hidden pan bolts isn't that bad.

I have owned an '08 Callaway SC580 w/ MN6 for over 4 yrs...love the car but not a day goes by that I don't wish it was an A6. As improvements are made with the modern autos, it seems that the case for having a manual tranny is harder to justify.
The ONLY reason there is not a new 2013 Anniv. 427 in my garage is that it is NOT available in A6...

All my previous sports cars have been MN transmissions, and to tell you the truth, I just got tired of shifting all the time in traffic.
Bought the vette with an A6 and paddles, and it's the best of both worlds.
I don't buy the old "If it's not a stick" it's not a sports car BS

My first Vette in 1967 was a manual, but I only had it 2 years before it got stolen.
Then I had several more manual trannie cars and several automatics.
My first C6 was a manual in 2004. Had it for only 2 months and my FIL passed away, and so did my wife's backup car with automatic tranny. She can't drive a manual and doesn't want to learn. So, I swapped the manual C6 for an automatic C6 so she'd have a backup when her car is in the shop or disabled.
Have had an automatic since, since I do a lot of in-town driving.

Had an MN6 blown 5th gen Camaro. The manual was awesome at Road America, but I hated it at the 1/4 mi where I spent most my time.
Im looking forward to dragging this GS.

My '05 Z51 was a manual, great car. My '08 Z51 is an A6, a better transmission by far.
No more draining and refilling the clutch slave cylinder. No more avoiding steep hills with a stop at the top. No more worrying bout the cost and complexity of a clutch replacement. No more 1st to 4th bypass. No more worries about parking in reverse. No more concern about the shifter box and linkage. No more need for a short shifter. No more missed third gear upshifts. No worry about destroying a differential with a hard start. No more wheel hop.

My '02 WS6 trans am was M6 and i said i would never get an A6 sports car. Well, when looking for a c6 my 06 c6 came up and it had everything i needed (minus the Manual) so i got it. I miss the manual a little, but it's nice without it. Plus the paddles make it easier to get along without the m6... Now i can't wait for the cow booster and tune to make the A6 almost perfect!! (hopefully in a few weeks)
