Active handling question 06

normally it will reset on each start of the engine so if you want to know the error code, you have to have it read, while message appears and running or at least before restart. Generally the condition will be rechecked each time you start the engine and then you reach 10mph (but i have seen it set the first time i hit almost 20mph).
does it say.. service active handling/traction control (sah/tc).. both or just the sah?
ignore the message unless it starts to reappear on restarts.
you can get the codes read to determine what is wrong.
there are many many reasons possible.
added... i see you have a 2006. some information. this i am adding isnt the only reason for SAH, but might apply to you

what i mean is that you have already shut off the engine and the code(s) that triggered the SAH will be reset on restart. So, for all practical purposes, you have lost the condition that set the error. If it is a 1 time event, fine, otherwise you will get the message again and THEN you should consider getting it checked.
thought i better restate my 'ignore' reason, someone will JUMP on me for saying to ignore error(s).. lol

Lots of other possibilities -- do a search, you'll see.
But you'll be chasing your tail if the real problem is a weak/dying battery.

Lots of reports of strange DIC messages & electronic issues caused by bad battery. For instance, do your windows index properly?
Anyway, if your 06 has the original battery, it's probably time for a new one.

The original TSB and now the Recall is usually corrected by securing a connector/socket inside the steering column fascia. It's very simple and quick.
Worst case scenario is the car will think it's skidding or doing something that requires intervention and AH may react in such a way (one wheel braking for example) that it will steer you into the shoulder/bushes, or.................
Many reported cases of this has forced the upgrade from TSB to a full Recall.
If the DIC warning appears, shut off the car and re-start, but immediately turn off AH/TC by holding the button down until you get the message that they are off.
This will allow you to drive without the fear of unwanted AH 'adjustments'.
The connector fix is easy enough that you can DIY, but the liability is substantial and GM will repair it for free.
Hopefully you have a local dealer that can perform this without damaging your car or taking it for a 'spin'.

Wheel speed sensor failure is unlikely to cause those two messages by themselves. Wheel speed sensor is used by all 3 functions of the ABS so you would see Service ABS/AH/TC not just 2 messages.
Only way to know as stated before is to have the codes read by a scanner that can read ABS codes. Some auto parts stores have them and some don't. You will need to ask. Since the codes are reset with an engine restart it is best to read them before the engine is turned off.
