Waypoints work great. I even use them to force the GPS to go a certain way for part of a trip to avoid what I know is a hellish route. Without this the Nav points me a way that often bogs down with traffic. I just use 2 waypoints to put me far enough away from the bad road that the Nav plots the rest of the way.
