Hit a deer today...
62 degrees and sunny...It's the first real nice weekend of the year. I was out for a little spin with the top down. Making a slow (20MPH) right turn on to a side street I spot a car about 50' in front of me going 10 MPH. I'm thinking to myself "where's the deer?" All of the sudden a big doe jumps right in front of me. I slam on my brakes, I didn't hear the car hit the doe but she shoots 10' in the air directly over my car. I watch as she flies overhead and lands in the soft leaves on the side of the road. She jumps up and runs off into the woods. When I returned home I noted a small scuff on the front splitter and a mist of deer urine on my hood. I guess I'm not the only one who had the **** scared out of them. I'm really glad it didn't land in the front seat. I think the low front end of the vette (2" off the street) played a part in the out come.

There are a lot of deer where I live. I have seen cars totaled on the side of the road a few times. I have seem more dead deer that were hit.
I have had a close call on my motorcyle. I have hit a couple rabbits on my bike. they seem to run right for my front tires...

I HATE freakin deer....SO glad not more damage and no one was hurt. Hit one once with a Ford Expedition and did some significant damage - to my truck that is.....creamed the deer.....to death. One less deer IMHO

I read that 36,000 deer are killed by motor vehicles a year in Maryland. I've lived here 18 years and have had two near misses like this. I'm very lucky...So far.

C7 of the Year - Unmodified Finalist 2021
this summer going around a turn in hilly Utah at about 60 I see this deer standing on the inside of the guard rail on the opposite side - the thing decides to jump in front of my car - if not for my ninja reflexes and the capability of the car who knows if I would have been okay - this was in broad daylight

I had barely missed one recently... Then the second one plows head first into the side of the car. Took out the fender, headlight, mirror, door. Never saw it... Luckily I was in the daily driver. $2,500 in damage. Only doing 30 mph two blocks from the house. They are some kind of stupid...

Glad everything turned out OK. Talking about rocks deer are about as dumb or smart your choice as rocks. You would think you were sneaking up on them.
