Me too, like the plastic latch on the console lid, and the stupid, fracture-prone door over the non-ash-tray, where one of the +12VDC outlets lives. Haven't the Chevy designers ever tested a Honda?
an M5 is a great car (with more issues than a magzine rack though) a CTSV is well on par with it, but it is NOT OUR VETTES. most of us (ME) dreamed of one day owning a Vette, when the C4 came out it was like nothing I had ever seen.
Letting some bozo get to you online is silly.
take a deep breath and remember that great looking thing in the garage is YOURS.
I don't mind anyone being passionate about their cars, but when they talk trash about mine, that's where I draw the line. That guy doesn't even own an M5. I caught him in some lies.
I have driven Corvette's on and off since 1968 and I have owned at least one of every generation except the C1. So I guess you could say I love my Corvette, but it is after all just a car. There are a lot of cars out there some better then others and some not so good. I learned a long time ago, that two things you never discuss unless you are looking for a fight are politics and religion. Over the the years I have added comparing cars as to who has the better car.
If you a truly a lover of fine cars, then I don't see why you would argue, especially with someone on the internet. It seems that this (the internet) brings out the I am better then you mentality. I bet if you met this person face to face and started talking cars it would have gone completely differently.
Had the most asinine argument online with someone who said the C6 was a piece of plastic trash. I wanted to reach through the Internet and slap the crap out of him.
It's just the internet..grow thicker skin. Some people aren't jealous, they aren't ignorant to what the car can do (vs. theirs), they just want to get a rise out of you. It IS plastic...and?
Dust your shoulders off and go about your business.
Was he referring to build quality, performance, price? Makes a difference...
Depending on what the car is being primarily used for the M5 may in fact be better than a C6 in some instances. For example if I had to travel from coast to coast I'd choose an M5 over a C6 any day. More comfortable, more storage space, better interior, better ride.
However if I want to go carving up a canyon then I'd much rather be in a C6.
Just my 2¢.
U.M.
Didn't go coast to coast, but did just return from a 1200 road jaunt and even my wife said the ride was fine. That was 600 miles in a day. No back or seat of the pants pains. We had a great time.
I took my Grand Sport to a family outing and that's the first thing my step-father, who's an old drag racer, said "plastic piece of crap" but then, I'm driving that wonderful piece of plastic, and he's driving an old GMC work truck - so who's opinion matters more? :-)
It was just a lack of respect and knowledge. Like I mentioned before, in today's world, there are not that many cars that are crap, each have a function, most have beauty, but not all will please everyone. One could argue that the Smart car is better than the M5 and Corvette, and they would be right. You can argue the other way around and you'd still be right.
The reason is, there have been no set rules for this competition.

My '09 Z06 has 30K on it now and 20K of that is from long trips!!!! My wife and I have NO PROBLEM taking the vette on 1000 milers. However that's only because my other two options at the time ('02 Kia Rio or a '09 Civic) are even worse for long distance traveling!
I've spent ~$10,000.00 out-of-pocket plus many hours researching, purchasing and installing over sixty upgrades in my C6 Coupe's passenger, cargo and engine compartments, plus to the exterior, "finishing" the car, and I'm not done yet. For instance, although I have the extra-cost two tone sports, yet the interior surfaces of the seat bolsters facing the center console, and the back of the seats are cloth rather than (cheap) leather like the rest of the seats. As much as I love the car, it's looks (CRM), performance, ride and handling (F55), exhaust note (NPP), and yes its value, I'm still constantly reminded it's just a Chevy. Thats why the door handles and third brake light were black instead of body colored, they had "Corvette" molded recesses on the dash and rear fascia with no letters in them, a molded indentation in the hood liner for the crossed-flags insignia yet no insignia, no real grill or fender vent screens, no under hood light or center console lock, the list goes on and on. So, I think of my Corvette as an incomplete kit car that will really be something when finished.

Oh no, he was saying an M5 is a better car all around. He was sayng in quarter mile and lap tests, the M5 was better. Even better than a ZR1. Now, that's ********, LOL.
That's funny that he says the ZR1, that beat the Enzo around VIR is not as fast as an M5....that's a stretch...
As the late Will Rogers said, "I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person". Enough said. JB
Reminds me of the 2 guys who met on a one lane bridge.
First guy sticks his head out the window and shouts, "I NEVER back up for an idiot!"
Second guy, shifting into reverse, says, "I always do!"
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
