Hail Damage

I would have your insurance company and a body shop look at the Vette very carefully to make sure all of the damage is known and addressed. For $500 I would probably turn it in as a claim if the damage was severe enough.
FYI, my Vette had countless very small hair line cracks in the body work, due to the hail. But then again it was caused by baseball size hail.
Good luck.
My C5 was caught in a hail storm.. punched a hole through one of the doors, shattered the front and rear window. It was baseball sized hail. The body shop did a terrible job fixing it. I didn't like the car after that. Ended up trading it in.
So, my wife's "nagging" saved the paint job on my new car...
I told her from that day foward, she is free to nag me whenever she wants...
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

My wife and I had both our cars parked at O'Hare while we were out of town in 2000, hers was in the public lot and mine was in the crew lot about a mile away. Hailstorm came through.
Her 1998 Camry was undamaged.
My 1998 Camaro had a couple of small dents in the hood.
State Farm had a special claims unit in our town because of all the hail damage to homes and cars; they inspected the Camaro and found many many small dents all over it. They wrote me a big check on the spot, when I asked what would happen if the repairs cost more, they said just bring in the bills. I was impressed.
Traded the Camaro for our 2001 Corvette a few weeks later, without repairing it. But i did point out the damage to the salesman.
EDIT:
In our home town about 20 miles away, many tin cars had hail damage but the Corvettes that were outside just needed a mild buffing to remove the scuffs from hail, 3 years later there was no additional damage visible.
