I know there is one that flys but it has modern day jet engines for reliability...I dont believe it was a reproduction either if my memory serves me right but I definitely could be wrong...awesome pic however and thanks for sharing...

Man it was bugging me so I had to do some research on the 262, there is a project called the ME 262 Project where a company built 5 aircraft...and according to their site they are not reproductions but rather "rivet for rivet" exact spec serial numbered continuation productions of the Messerschmitt with subtle modifications (different jet engines and known issues corrected)...took years to build in cooperation with authorities in Germany...they offer rides in these aircraft...anyway I think that's what you have a picture of...pretty sweet! I read there are only around 10 originals still around, all of which are in museums and not close to being airworthy. Sorry I know this isn't an aviation forum but that pic tickled my pickle.

Yep, we chatted with the pilot, a former F4 Phantom jockey. It is a faithful reproduction built with copies of the original engineering drawings from Germany. It is owned by the Collings Foundation. You are correct about the engines. They are old Lear turbo jet engines but far more reliable than the originals which he said had a TBO of only 10-20 hours. We watched it take off with one of those paying customers in the back and it is equally as loud as those old Lears. I just read that, day before yesterday, it made an aborted T/O at Midland, TX when the back hatch popped open on the roll. No damage. Supposedly, this is the only one of the reproductions flying. I did read that Paul Allen, from Microsoft, owns an original that has the original engines and it is scheduled to make its final flight to the Smithsonian A&S Museum in the near future.

Randy, finally moving into my favorite part of the year, MOSQUITO, TICK, AND DEER FLY SEASON. What's not to like about Minnesota, that is, if you are an entomologist or a masochist.

Got home from work a bit early today. Pulled the cover off, disconnected the battery tender, fired right up.

Battery tender charge light was flashing, which supposedly means "replace battery", but the battery is only 1-1/2 years old and it was fully charged.

Taking her to work tomorrow.

I'm holding off. The roads down here actually sparkle with all the salt on them. Gonna wait for a good rain first.

I bought me a Weber last year.

I like the convenience of a gas grill and this Weber is 10x better than the cheap gas grills I used to buy.

I put my insurance back on 3 weeks ago. Drove it for 20 minutes or so on the last snow-free Saturday we had. Back in the garage ever since.
