Yes, I have driven some of 66. Northeast of OKC I was in the area of the round barn.

I've also driven 66 in Western OK near Clinton.
As a kid in the 50s, my family drove it to CA.
btw, I preferred the Rolling Stones version of route 66.

There are some Route 66 Museums in OK, one in Clinton and one in Elk City. If you go, plan on spending several hours. Adrian Texas is the midpoint of Route 66.

Rt.66 runs right through Lebanon, I drive on it all the time. The motel in the picture got a special grant from the state to redo their sign thats in the picture. I still need to get a picture when its turned on.

We have been on original Rt 66 pavement in every state except California (maybe next year). There is the 1920s "Suitcase Highway" -- one lane, just 9 feet wide-- 1926 pavement and a "shoe tree near Stroud OK, and a short stretch of brick roadway in IL. Seligman AZ is a fun place, as is the Bluebird Motel in Tucumcai NM, as are the Rt 66 museums in Clinton OK and Albuquerque NM. Great food at the old Half Way Cafe in Adrian TX -- population about 8. It is a neat, nostalgic ride... Much better in a C6 than a 1930s or '40s car! Highly recommend driving at least some of it. Check any Rt 66 website for ideas.

Been on Rte 66 hundreds of times... it's only a few miles from where I live near St. Louis.
Would love to do the historic trip end to end some day.

My wife and I will be driving Route 66 with another Corvette couple from Kentucky in April/May this year. This will be a 5 week trip starting in St. Louis and ending in Santa Monica. From there we plan to drive the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to San Francisco and return to Orlando via Sacramento, Reno, Salt Lake City, Cheyenne, KC, St. Louis and Atlanta. Should be a great trip from what I've heard!

Drive parts of it all the time in my Vette here in St. Louis but I remember as a kid taking it all the time with my family on trips to Chicago and then in '63 my father and I went in his '59 Olds all the way to the Santa Monica Pier on it from St. Louis (I was 13).
Didn't or wouldn't ever realize the significance of it then, wow, wish I did as I've actually been on the entire stretch.

Thanks for Sharing! I grew up just a mile away from Chippewa Street (old route 66) in St. Louis. Used to be the only way to get southwest out of the city until interstate 44 was built some 40+ years ago. I had forgotten about the show Route 66.

I'm getting my kicks and I've never put a tire on Rt. 66! More, more... By the way, I like the Stones version better too, but Nat King Cole did it first.
