I'm driving my 1 month old vette to a restaurant that has valet service, with my old cars I would never use valet, but now it comes into play, just wondering how many of my fellow vette owners use or don't use valet & just take a chance in the public parking lot that nothing happens to their pride & joy.
Nope, would never valet the corvette. I do have a daily driver and if I do go some place that doesn't allow self park/only valet, that is the car that goes. Corvette stays safe in the garage.
I usually ask if I can park it myself right in front of the restaurant.
They usually let me when I give em a $5
I find that they don't mind if you drive your own car to the Valet parking lot as long as they accompany you, I've done it many times. A good tip after you pick up your car goes a long way as well.

I give them the going rate, and ask "Where do I park it so you can keep an eye on it?" Also, I have a handicapped placard and always try to park in the blue space with the wide blue hash marks on each side.
As for giving them the key fob, never forget this:

A few times. Never had a problem. Just watch where you go, who you patronize. Any "respectable" establishment/business would never allow joy riding/abuse of a customer's Car. Ferris Buehler? Its a movie!
PS- But then again, I put the GS on the Auto Train, twice. So does my opinion really count?
I visit at least one of the casino hotels on the LV strip every week. They all have valet service but I prefer to park in the self park garage along with the hundreds of other cars. I've been doing that for 9 years (3 with the vett) and never had any incident.
I have a 2005, so you have to put it in reverse when you park it. First week I had the car I met some friends at a resort in Orlando and valet parked since I'd be staying for a few days. Now, when you turn the car off it says Shift to Reverse right on the DIC and the door won't open unless you manually unlock it with the door button. Anyway, the valet didn't put it in reverse got out and when I wanted the car from valet the battery was dead and I hadn't thought to bring my key with me. So the resort had to pay someone to come out and break into the car and charge the battery. Lol. So, now I'm pretty leery about valets.
