Default plug wire install

I'm putting on my new MSD wires '10 GS. I don't think so but do you re-use the metal sleeve from the factory ones?

Looks like some people re-use them and some don't, I guess I'll use them since they do fit the MSD boot.

Certainly won't hurt to reuse them. I've also added woven plug wire heat protectors (like Accel brand) to provide additional heat insulation, especially with headers. They're also wide enough to slip over the metal heat shields too.

Did you notice any improvement in idle or performance?

The metal shields are spring loaded so they don't rattle with the stock wires. The way the MSD wires fit would allow the shields to rattle, so I did not use the shields with my MSD wires.

Why? I don't get why you are replacing the wires. Is your 2010 already over 100,000 miles?

I didn't see long tube headers or anything special on your engine in the picture.

At any rate I would reuse the metal tubes to keep the heat off the boots and reduce static radio interference.

Tom, because I like the red color wires. They will match other mods I have for my under hood bling coming up.

Good enough reason!

But I would still use the metal tubes to keep heat off the boots and to reduce possible static interference on the radio and other electronic devices on the car.

The MSD wires are designed so the plug boot is flexible and can be positioned at whatever angle is necessary to clear headers. The metal shields prevent adjusting the MSD boot. So I run mine without the shields and have no heat problem because of the clearance I can get by adjustment.

Exactly, using the shields would defeat the reason I bought MSD wires in the first place.

I purchased mine from 099Blancoss, a forum vendor for $58 free shipping. That was a couple of years ago,

A reminder about posting information about non-supporting vendors.

Members are not prohibited from mentioning it when they have a good (or bad, for that matter) experience with a non-supporting vendor. But such mentions cannot be so specific (address, phone number, e-mail address, URL, price, part number, offer to send contact information via PMs, etc.) or so frequent that they become marketing and promotional references.

Read the whole rule. Two were posting URLs. That's among the items that's prohibited about non-supporting vendors.
