Hi, new to this forum and wanting some advice. I am not a Corvette owner but hope to remedy that in the near future. I have longed for one for a loooong time but always had other practical things get in the way. The kids are out of the house and I'm retired and might be able to afford one now. I am not looking for a Grand Sport or a Z model. Just looking for something to play with and cruise some of the backroads around here. Looking for something in the 2009 - 2010 range. Is there anything I have to look out for with these cars aside from the obvious things. I have seen one at a dealer not too far from here. It's a 2010 w 2/LT and with 3500 miles. I think it's a pretty basic model. Carfax is clean - bought and being sold by same dealer. It's a non smoker which is a good thing. They have it priced at $39K. Anybody have any thoughts on this car or just general advice for an old fart and first timer?
Thanks,
Russ
Well from one old fart to another, it sounds like a nice car with hardly any miles. Did you get a carfax from the dealer? There are folks here that if asked nicely will run the vin number and check it's dealer service record. It might still have a small amount of the bumper to bumper GM 3/36 depending on date it went into service. You can add extended GM warranty. Don't do it though the dealer. We have a dealer who posts here that offers them at a much less inflated price.
The advice I would offer is the same. look in the dealer for sale section on this site. while the one you are looking at is seemingly in like new condition, an actual new one can be had for a few dollars more in some cases. the difference may be minor, but the actual new one comes with a full warranty, which should give you piece of mind. There are forum dealers located around the country since you don't mention where you hail from. a shiny new one may be within your means, especially with the low low financing offered by many.
RIGHT NOW MacMaulkin has four 2013 LT1 Coupes for $43,500 and a little less - a Torch Red, Crystal Red and two Night Race Blues. I'd definitely try to stretch the budget to get brand new if at all possible. And from what I understand MacMaulkin can have it delivered to you (unless you're close by and can pick it up yourself) for a few hundred bucks...
Thanks to all who replied and the information given. I am located in Lexington, KY. Where is the dealer that was mentioned - MacMaulkin??? I had planned on making an offer on this car for $35K. Don't really want to go much more than that. I can get the vin if needed and/or post a link to the car.
Thanks again,
Russ
MacMaulkin is in Nashua, New Hampshire. It's not at all unusual for folks to buy from the forum dealers and be thousands of miles away. The prices are just that good, the service is excellent and delivery can be arranged to your actual house if needed. Corvette ownership is a whole different experience! If you hang with the right crowd! You might check with some of the forum dealers ASAP and see what sort of used cars they have in inventory - they might have something better than what you're looking at with a lower price. You might be surprised.
