As three people already suggested, the MGW is a great choice. I had a great experience with their customer service from the start. They supplied great step by step instructions that made installation a snap.
As far as the quality, compared to the OEM shifter in my GS, it is amazing the difference in the two, just from an ascetic perspective. To me the MGW shifter felt more substantial in my hand (prior to installation), so I had high hopes.
Once it was in stalled, I noticed a big difference in the throw, which I certainly like a lot more than the stock shifter. I find the shifts smooth and quick. Also, I no longer get hung up at 3rd gear like I did with the stock shifter. Maybe it was just me, but that shift was a pain in the behind.
As far as the shifts and how they feel. Mine were notchy with the stock shifter, but they are not at all with the MGW. I have roughly 400 miles with my shifter and it is as smooth as I could possibly want. I know some people stated that they had to break theirs in a bit, I had no such experience.
Given that I have done very few modifications to my car, it means very little to say that this is the best one I have done. However, I can say that This is a mod that I will not regret, it is fantastic.
MGW for me too. I went with the stock **** at first, ultimately changed to the MGW ****. I was getting a small vibration noise with the stock ****, under acceleration. Some said it was due to the light weight of it. Switched to a heavier MGW **** and problem solved. I love it! Easy to DIY, too. It only takes an hour or so to make the swap.
I guess I'll be the lone dissenter here. I installed an MGW short shifter in my '08 and it gets a big meh from me. The shifts are shorter, but that wasn't really the problem for me with the stock shifter. It's a clunky, imprecise mechanism, which I attribute to the linkage back to the transaxle. It also didn't solve my difficulties with the 2-3 shift when trying to do it very quickly. I still dink the gate from time to time, slowing down that particular upshift. Hell, my Corolla DD shifts faster and smoother than my C6 does, both before and after the MGW. That makes me sad.
I wouldn't say I regret the MGW shifter - it does exactly what it's supposed to do, which is shorten the shifts. I had hoped it would do more, though, and it doesn't.
I have an MGW in my 2008 Z06 and it is much better than the stock shifter but it would be even better if the distance between the shift gates wasn't so short.

Biggest issue I think people have with the 2-3 shift is gripping the shifter tight and trying to force the shift. Do not grip the shifter, but rather just push it forward with the open palm of your hand. You will make that shift 99% of the time. Sometimes hard to do in the "heat of the moment" when your getting on it, but with a little practice it will become natural.

I thought that was part of the incentive was to shorten the throw and the distance between shifts with the MGW?
I have the Callaway short shifter that works very well but it RATTLES, especially during acceleration. Don't know if there is a fix for this but if not, I will re-install the OEM shifter...

Your shifter should not rattle. Both mine on LS3 cars did not not, with a combined 240,000 miles.
