My friend noticed my tail lights or rear license plate lights were not on while driving. However my turn signal work and my brake lights work. Also, interior lights were very bright for some reason.... gauge cluster, ac/heater number indicator.... all very bright.
So I pulled over and checked. When i unlock, reverse lights come on but go off and that's it.... Nothing else. Usually tail lights come on and so do the license plate lights.
Well, you don't say what year the car is so I can only offer a real guess to check. There is a main wiring connector for all the rear lights behind the passenger side lights. It often gets corroded, especially in humid climates like yours. So I'd start there, it seems to be relatively easy. Check this thread for a little more detail, different problem but same connector involved (and check the appropriate fuses if you haven't already):
I did just install the hardbar harness bar today... i don't recall any sort of ground behind there.
Problem is, during night time, my whole rear is completely black... no lights whats so ever... is there a ground wire near the seat belts...????
as you know vettes are glass and they have a hard time finding ground.if you just installed something and the problem started at the same time, good chance you drilled into or disturbed a ground wire.look all around where you did work and see if something is loose or pinched.
