Default Z51 package

I have a 2009 C6 Z51.
I have heard it has...

Stiffer suspension?
Thicker stabilizer bars?
Bigger brakes? (I can see that)
Does it have an oil cooler?

Now I think I heard that the transmission is actually beafed up too.

Anyone actually know what the Z51 option contains???

i think they may have made slight changes over the years??????
but i haven't heard of a trans update
i've heard rear gear ratio (but i think was another option at least on our 05 is was, 2:73 vs 3:15??)
i know this type of info has been posted before, may want to try a search
greaseable tie rod ends too, i think that was Z51 specific

i know you CAN NOT and MUST not refer to the Z51 as a model
we have Z51 police on this board who will be all over your a$$ and will cite you for things like that, so becareful... they take is SUPER serious too
i don't think you can snip them off with a radar detector either

Google it...several articles about what it contains.

Transmission cooler, larger sway bars, lower gear ratio, stiffer springs, bigger brakes, better tires.

My '05 (which is the only one I care about) has
higher spring rates and shocks,
larger sway bars,
larger cross-drilled rotors,
engine oil, transmission, and power steering fluid coolers,
Goodyear EMT tires,
revised gear ratios for 6spd or performance axle ratio (3.15) with automatic.
So...beefier trans??? Dunno, probably not.

definitely 2.73 rear ratio on the autos the manuals retain a 3.42, but the trans gears are shorter
different goodyear emts than the base
depending on the year the oil cooler will be in the radiator (earlier Z51s), or a small external one in the front bumper
the rear brake calipers have a smaller piston for a more front oriented brake bias

Well, yes and no. 2.73 is the standard automatic rear end ratio with 4spd auto and 3.42 with the 6spd auto. 3.15 is optional with the 4spd auto and 2.56 is optional with the 6spd auto. The 6spd rear end ratio 3.42, also.
All gears in the "Z51" 6spd are shorter, except fourth which is direct in each trans.
Go to the museum website and search specs for your car.

Go to the museum website and search specs for your car.

IIRC, the C6 A6 has the 2.56 rear end ratio standard, with the 2.73 rear end ratio option being part of
the Z51 package. All the C6 manual trannny's get the 3.42 rear end ratio.

(when I bought my '09 coupe w/Z51, that was the result of the research I did at the time)

Not if your profile is correct. all A6 Z51's get a 2.73 rear gear ratio. the 2.56 is only for the non-Z51 A6.

nope, mine is definitely a 2006 Z51 and the sticker on my rear says 2:56, so maybe they put the wrong rear on mine?
I'll look at the window sticker when I get home and see if it says anything on it.

Correct...3:42 is the standard ratio and 2:56 is the optional ratio with A6.

Automatic Z51 cars do not have an oil cooler. Only manual tranny.
