New York is a big State not sure where you are located. Anyhow here in Upstate I have been without the front plate for 5 years and no problems.
As a matter of fact I can not recall seeing a C6 Vette with a front plate.

Lower NY, Long Island area, just not worth it, cash starved here and looking for any excuse to increase the bank accounts of all the corrupt politicians at the expense of the working class. I ran without a front plate for about a year, no problems, then just gave up and bought a front mount from Top Flight. I got the removable one along with color matched frames and it looks great.

I spoke with a fellow C6 owner who is also an officer in lower NY area. He said he many officers would not pull you over for the plate BUT some would. It's a roll of the dice.
