Unfortunately that is one downside, people will try to get your attention to tell you that your hatch is open. You can count on that happening.
The other down sides are exhaust fumes making you feel high and the hatch sounding like its cracking off on every bump you hit. I thought all the naysayers were just being picky, so I bought a hatch vent, drove the car once with it, and promptly threw it in my garage cabinet. It's junk, please don't waste your money.
Anyone have a good solution for interior wind in a coupe with windows down and targa top under hatch. Today, 92 degrees top off and windows down the wind was blowing everything in the back forward and all around. Putting top back on and rolling up windows is not an option nor having zero items in car to blow around.
I did notice it wasn't bad with windows up but again they aren't going to stay up if the top is off.
I sure do love this car
Small world... I think I might have been behind you yesterday morning on Miami Blvd heading toward Cornwallis. I don't know if you noticed where I had my windows but I usually leave the passenger side about half'ish open (at the angle change) and then I have the driver side all the way down. So far this has been the best for me when I'm driving above 50 MPH with the top off. I also have a partition, I feel it helps with the wind tunneling in the hatch.

Heck no--the Ventmaster, or Vent Master however they want you to write it, is about the best $60 I ever spent. Downsides: yeah, you get a lot of "YOUR HATCH IS OPEN!" so just cheerfully acknowledge them, and some exhaust smell briefly under acceleration. Upsides: way less wind beating you in the back of the head, a little extra margin to carry cargo that the hatch won't quite close on, doesn't take up much room in the aft cubby. Hatch squeaks? none when the roof is under the hatch where it belongs! at all other times, turn up the radio.
