Default 2007 Nav Problem

After owning the car for 4 months I just tried using the CD player in the nav unit the other day. The radio stops playing for a few seconds like the disc is loading then it starts up again. When I flip the display back up and hit the CD buttom it says something like "no valid disc inserted". Is this a normal problem or am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.

Did you put it in the right slot. There are two of them. One for the CD and one for the DVD for the nav.

Yep. I even did it a couple times to make sure I wasn't losing my mind and putting it in the DVD slot.

Have you tried another disc? They do go bad now and then. You might try cleaning the disc with a little IPA on a soft cloth. A microfiber towel will do nicely. Wipe gently in a radial, not circumferential, direction.

It could also be a dirty laser. Some folks suggest blowing canned air in the slot. Being a cautious sort, I use a cleaning disc that I bought at Best Buy.

Do you have the right disk? Best of the Rolling Stones usually doesn't work.

I believe he was attempting to use Eddie Money's greatest hits.
