Default DIC options programming

When personalizing the DIC options on my new '13 C6 I have enabled the auto-unlock and FOB warning features, among others. Perhaps once every 20 entries it won't sense the fob and I'll have to push the unlock button, or it may fail to unlock at first and then after a few tries at opening the door it will unlock and grant access. I keep the fob in my right front pocket and it is always close to the car when this happens. Anyone else have this problem?

Next, with the "FOB reminder" option enabled it will occasionally emit the three horn beeps when I'm out of the car and the fob is in my pocket. Because my motorcycle is parked very near my car on the left side I must walk close to the car on the left and across the front when entering the house. When the horn does sound I'm always about even with the left front wheel and close to the car, so I suspect this proximity is fooling the sensor into thinking the fob is still in the car. Can the sensitivity of this feature be reduced? When it does go off, again maybe once every week, it startles the hell of of me. I would disable the feature but feel that I would like to have that warning should I accidentally leave the keys in the car, as I never want to do that, even when parked in the garage.

I keep my FOB in my left pocket, cell phone in right, and the worst thing I have to do is wait a few seconds before the door will open. I have never had to push the unlock button yet.

I had to turn the FOB reminder off. I am a gentleman so I get out of the car first, go around and open the door for my wife to get out (the real reason is I don't want her to open the door and slam it into the car next to me or worse yet, scratch the bottom all to hell on a curb). I also have a tight space in my garage to work with and I have to walk close to the car. The horn was beeping every single time and I just got tired of it.

It didn't so much startle me, as I had gotten used to it and knew it was coming, but it still bugged the hell out of me. It was really annoying because I didn't know why it was doing it, so I had to get out the manual and figure it out. Turned the alert off and now I love it!

We have:
Passive Locking armed for both fobs.
Passive Unlocking is always armed for any fobs, but both doors for me and only the driver door for my wife.
Fob Reminder armed for my wife, but not for me.
(she might leave her purse in the car, but I never leave my pants in the car)

I keep the fob in my left-front pocket all day, never take it out; along with a pocket knife, pocket flashlight, keys, and small change holder. Iphone 4S clipped on my belt above that pocket. Occasionally, the door won't unlock on my first squeeze or the engine won't crank on my first try. When that happens, I just stir the soup in that left pocket and everything works properly on the next try.

We also have a hidden trunk key outside the car, and a third fob wrapped in aluminum foil hidden deeply inside the car. We could walk up to the car naked and still be able to get in and drive home, but I'm hoping not to do it that way...

So you hold the door sensor switch in for a few seconds until it opens? I usually push it once or twice and if it doesn't respond I hit the fob button. This doesn't happen often, but I'll try holding it in longer.

Well, that would work for me most of the time, but I have one routine activity that violates the norm and the logistics are complicated. I put my keys in my workout bag at the gym, then habitually place them, my wallet, and the cell phone on the seat when finished upon entering the car. I don't carry the bag in the house since it has a FOB on it to enter the gym, and if I forget the bag I may not be able to get in. It would appear that I'm letting FOB's dictate my lifestyle, which I hadn't thought about until now. The bike has one, too, making me a three-FOB family--four if you count the second Vette FOB that I'm not using.

I often hit the supermarket on the way home from the gym and wouldn't want to forget and leave the keys in the car. Without the warning this could happen, although it hasn't yet.

I think in my case it may be a matter of inches. OTOH, I just did some ingress-egress cycles and couldn't make it beep at all, regardless of how close or slow I walked along the side of the car, but for me it only does it rarely anyway. The car happens to be in the garage in the reverse position (backed in), which isn't typical, so I wonder if that has something to do with it. Maybe the FOB signal is bouncing off the bike, or perhaps the bike's own security system that uses a similar proximity FOB setup has some effect on all of this. And then there's the gym FOB that stays in the car. Perhaps I should be grateful that it all works as well as it does.

Probably 90% of the "I got locked out of my C6" threads here involve a gymn bag, not sure if that makes you feel better or worse.

I thought the doors wouldn't lock automatically when only one FOB was in range and was inside the car. I need to get a grip on what the system will and won't do, and when. I guess another read of the manual is in order.
