Default Curb alert warning system

Does anyone have any experience with the Curb Alert Warning System offered by Ecklers? 159.99 seems like a small price to pay to protect the front end of my vette. Easy to install? Reliable warning? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

works great, easy enough install!! You set the warning to where you want it to go off. You can set it for 2 feet, 1 foot, 15 inches, etc.... i got mine for 150 even, forgot where, several vendors have them for sale....

Just installed Curb Alert and Mild to Wild this week on 427 vert.

Install for both took about an hour (both are in same location and use same ground screw).

I got both items from Southern Car Parts, great service, quick shipping and good prices.

Considering the price of the splitter on the 427 the Curb Alert seemed like a no brainer, good insurance.

If you park a Corvette, you NEED Curb Alert!

Has anyone tried to install this on the rear also? Wish my C6 had a backup camera. Other then the wiring, I can't think of why it wouldn't work. Any comments would be appreciated.

I have a boyo license plate combo which works very well, color and good clearness but mine is a littel more complicated install at it's wired into a new kenwood head unit. You can't even see mine. I have it installed to turn off and on with the head unit by itself or by the putting the car in reverse.

It could be done without this set-up and switched by a simple toggle but you do have to run wires to do it.

I am confused by the need for this product... Do you really need to get 1" away from the curb? The c6 is very short compared to parking spaces, just pull in and stop,
Chances are you're far enough in.

Many shopping centers have curb stops that are installed about 2' from the actual curb or defined space so a car hits the front tires not the front of the car. So your theory of stopping short in these cases puts you hanging half way into the drive lane. Curbs are also not all the same height which makes for either hitting the front air dam or worse the actual front fascia. It's the tough part of owning a vette it you happen to hit a curb stationary or otherwise. Cheap insurance to protect the front end. My GS front lower air dam part alone is about $250 + so to me it's a no brainer. These Later models are also much lower than the eariler vettes.

Want to add this but wasn't sure if I could with my M2W switch. Where do you tap in at on the fuse panel with it when you have M2W??

I've never come close to any curb stop at a shopping center and have never been hanging out into the lane. I donno I guess if it floats your boat.

it is a great product and we sell a ton of them....

If you buy the curb alert form anyone else, it comes as a standard universal kit. We offer the universal kit but also sell kits pre configured for specific vehicles, such as the Corvette C5 and C6. Everything is pre-crimped with the correct connectors and will plug right into your fuse box under the passenger floor board.

We also have installation videos on the site and on Youtube that show how to install and calibrate correctly.

Although lots of vendors are selling the Curb Alert and the outside of the box looks the same, we are the only ones that have taken the time to customize the Curb Alert for your vehicle.

If you have a Mild2Wild, not a problem at all. With our setup you can plug the Curb Alert into any other fuse location on your fuse box. Simply choose any other 20amp or less fuse in the fuse panel, remove it, plug the curb alert into that spot, remove the 10amp fuse on the curb alert, and plug the fuse you removed from the fuse panel into location where you removed the 10amp fuse from the Curb Alert.

Everything will work just as it did before except now the Curb Alert will also have power.

More info here...and yes, shipping is free....

I understand your thinking,,,,,however,,,,,,,I don't how many times I drove up on a curb in the C5 when I thought I still had room to go. With the C5, no damage you could see. When I got the C6 GS I knew I could not let that happen again without serious damage and orderd the Curb Alert right away. I would order another one right away if for some reason my curb alert stopped working. I set mine to go off 18" from the curb by the way.

You are absolutely correct ! and that's the way I was doing it UNTIL one day I was to intent on pulling into a spot that just came open & MISJUDGED my gap ! hit the curb & folded the air splitter right under the front lower piece, luckily I was able to repair it & sand it smooth. then I installed the curb alert & it has not failed me once. sometimes I just can't trust my own judgement, some are willing to gamble I did & lost. I have mine set at 10" just gives me piece of mind for $160 .

Before I got my '13 427 vert I would cringe every time I miss judged how close I was to the curb and then had to hear the that sound of the bump stop crapping over the top of the curb. I don’t it too often; I just didn’t care to hear it when it did happen.

When I got my ’13 I read about the curb alert and decided to try it because it was cheaper then replacing the ZR-1 chin splitter.

Installation is very straight forward and simple. Calibration is another story. In my case it took more tries that I would have thought. After several e-mails and phone calls with Southern Car Parts I was able to get it calibrated.

That was 10 months ago and now it appears that I need to recalibrate it again as it’s started it incessant alerting on almost any white line or shadow.

One thing to remember: it’s only as good as the driver. If you ignore it, it’s not going to work. I know from experience as I was driving my ’13 one day when I should have stayed home in bed when I was under the weather and didn’t pay attention to the alert when I drove into a curb – total damage: $400 to repaint the splitter. It could have been more if I had broken it.

Would I do it again? Why not it’s cheap insurance but remember to pay attention.
