When I installed one on wife car it was doing the same thing as yours. I checked all the wires and it turned out to be a pinch RCA video cable. After I fixed that it work like a champ. Make sure you don't have a pinch video cable.
Also for anyone who cares it was a Pioneer camera model ND-BC4 and has been a great camera for over a year. Day and night its clear, bright and easy to see. I used it to replace one of those cheap brands from ebay after it failed in 6 months. I highly recommend the pioneer ND-BC4 to everyone. It will not disappoint!
I had the purple reverse wire from the HU hooked up to the green/purple wire coming off the GMOS which said it was for the reverse wire. I then had the camera positive wire connected to the green positive wire for the reverse lights in the rear of the car.
So you are saying I should have not used the green/purple wire from the GMOS and just ran a wire from the reverse lights (green wire) straight up to the head unit's purple wire?
yes
the GMOS revere wire does not work
so you have to go to the green on reverse lights
You might want to check and see if key for hatch on fob will still work. After I installed my backup camera the key in fob would hit camera and not allow it to turn far enough.
