I only got 1 FOB form the dealer after buying a used 2010 Callaway GS. I just received a second FOB in the mail and tried to go through the programming steps in the owners manual. When I turn the key 5 times (step 6) I do not get the READY FOR FOB#....
First, do you want to have 2 FOB's that can access the Memory Settings? Or do you just want to add another FOB that will unlock and start the car but not have access to the Memory Settings?
Looks like what you've tried is to simply add another FOB that will unlock and start the car. That is done with the short procedure.
As to your problem, sounds like you aren't turning the key far enough, takes a full 90 degrees, OR you aren't turning it fast enough to meet the 5 second requirement.
Yes. All I am trying to do is add another FOB. I am worried that if I drop or this fob goes bad I'm screwed. I have not set any memory settings. I just tried again making sure I did a full 90 degrees turns and within 5 seconds.....Still nothing.
The thread that Rick referenced is long but has many tips and tricks that different people have found to work for them...it will take a while but you should read all the posts and try whatever seems to make sense. The first thing I would suggest is to turn the key more than 5 times...keep turning until the DIC wakes up...the 5 turns is not a limit, it is a minimum. The DIC not waking up is by far the most common problem that people have in trying to program. Read those instructions carefully.
I had this same problem... car wouldn't go into fob learn mode (no message on DIC after 5 key turns). Here's what works for me:
1) Put metal key in key cylinder back by license plate. Dont turn it yet, just leave it in there for now.
2) Put old, already-programmed-and-working fob in center console cupholder
3) Turn car 'on' using start button (you dont have to start it -- doesnt matter), then press start button again to turn car OFF.
4) Immediately run (yes, RUN) to the back of the car and turn the key five times. If you physically cant get back there very fast, have a helper ready to turn the key five times when you turn car off. This should trigger the "FOB" message on DIC.
5) Carry out the rest of the fob learning procedure as normal.
This is the ONLY way my car will go into "fob learn mode". If I wait even 5-7 seconds between steps 3 and 4, my car will never go into fob learn mode, no matter how hard or fast I turn the key.
I just finally got mine to work after 4 days of trying lol.
I had my phone in my pocket all the times besides the last time I tried it I left it upstairs and boom first time it worked.
Would you do me a very, very, VERY large favor? Since your car is so sensitive, would you put your phone BACK in your pocket and try the key thing again? If the cell phone is causing a problem, I can include a warning in my instructions to leave cell phones in the kitchen or something.
Yes, I will try to do it a couple times with my phone in my pocket and a few times with it far away and see if thats what really made a diference and write back.. This will be a few hours since I am in class right now
It's also possible there is something wrong with your lock sensor. There must be something that registers that you are turning the key. Perhaps that piece isn't working. Check for an electrical plug on the lock cylinder?

It's a simple switch that grounds the wire. That switch may have dirty contacts from lack of use and corrosion. All this is in the thread referenced above.
So I have been gone for a few days visiting family (still am) since I started this post...... Just before I left I was starting to remove the cove so I could access the switch at the trunk lock. I was able to remove the corners but I was unsure of how to remove the 2 small "buttons" in the center. Do you just pull these out? I didn't want to break anything.
Same situation here, just adding a second FOB, total PITA and im still not sure how I pulled it off. It did take a few hours so if your time is worth money you may want to save it and go to the dealer
Just tried it again and for me my phone was the issue.. Didn't work with the phone near my phone. I gave it a 45' distance and it worked..
Would you look at step #3 of my instructions? I did not add that when I added the "ALSO" for you (but I did go back and put it in red and make it bold). I guess having it in the instructions twice is a good thing since it really does matter at times.
