Default Checklist Help?

I just got an '09 base coupe a month ago and I've been learning about it both by driving it and pouring over this great forum... Lots of great info and support here.

I've been slowly getting some things done to make sure I know the car is in a proper state and that I know I'm doing everything I can to help insure a long, healthy life for it. I saved my $$ for a long time to buy it and I want to protect it.

Here is a list of the things I've done and I'm wondering if there is anything else that's gotten past me. Not looking for any power mods but any thoughts would be appreciated!

-Oil change/Wix filter
-Redline synthetic in the manual trans and differential
-Cabin air filter (the pollen is killing us here in the midwest...)
-Pretty good set of used Michelin runflats that will get me a year or two and a 4 wheel alignment.
-Nice Weathertech cargo mat
-Went from Borla cat-back exhaust back to a stock setup I got from my friend's '08, more to my taste...

----Got a great detailing and I'm already driving it like I stole it.

Considering MGW shifter after the summer.

Thanks----

If you don't know what was done to the car before you got it, I suggest flushing the brake fluid (should be done every 2 years anyway) and "maybe" a new battery just because these cars are hard on batteries and a weak battery can cause all kinds of strange problems. With those 2 things taken care of you will have a known baseline condition. If anything happens or starts being a problem it will be easier to diagnose.

And the coolant should be changed every 5 years, just so you're prepared.

Ah, yes. The dealer put in a new battery, so that's fine for now.

Brake fluid. Check.

Unless your car is black, get a pair of body colored door handles. Inexpensive and easy mod. Seemingly subtle, but once you do it you may wonder how you were ever able to live with black handles.

Add a 20 oz. can of Techron Concentrate Plus to the gas once or twice a year. Most car care chemicals are snake oil, but Techron is worth using.

I add this to the gas tank, every time I change my engine oil.

Thanks John and Seadawg. I checked it out and it seems that Techron could be a worthwhile maintenence item. I'm going to try it in all of my cars.

BTW, it is currently on sale nationwide at O'Reilly Auto parts. Buy one, get one free!

Very good idea. I like the buy one/get one thing, too.

I expect to get one when I buy one. It's only a deal if you get two when you buy one.
