Default Climate Control recirculating function

I run all my vehicles on recirculate, but I have a problem with the system on my coupe. With EVERY vehicle I have owned the recirculate function stays in that mode once selected. However, with my coupe it does not hold this function once set. Every time the car is shut off and restarted, I must hit the button for this feature. Is there a way to keep it set to recirculate? It is just annoying to try and remember to do this on each and every startup.

My ctsv did it also. Seems the newer gms are setup this way. Wish someone would come up with a mod that forced it on.

Recirculate will fog up your windows. Read your owners manual.

I agree with this. Recirculate is great when at first you want to cool or heat the car quickly. But once the temp is near where you want it then it switches to fresh air which is better for a variety of reasons.

Are you hitting 'auto' when turning on the HVAC? I have the opposite problem. The stupid 'auto' button always turn on 'recirc', and it keeps it on ALL THE TIME. As it was mentioned, it's not recommended to have the system in 'recirc' other than to initially cool the cabin quicker. In fact, even when turning HVAC manually, then hitting the 'A/C' button (like I do), the stupid 'recirc' function turns itself on again. Have to keep turning it off manually. Oh, and another annoyance: this car turns 'recirc' ON when shutting HVAC off. Most other cars keep whatever setting you have, so you can get air without having to turn HVAC on, but not on this car. Oh well.

Bottom line, even if 'recirc' turns itself off along with the engine, it always turns back on when HVAC is turned on with 'auto', or when you manually turn 'A/C' on, so you shouldn't have an issue. But it is what it is, so we have to live with those nuisances . Good luck.

Our 2006 and now our 2009, don't always start with Recirc.

If it's hot, then the Recirc will turn on after a few seconds when it decides that the car is too hot.

In moderate temps, the recirc will come on as per above, but usually not.

If it's cold, the Recirc never comes on.

I believe I heard/read on here years ago that GM cars default to the regular circulation, not recirculate.Yes,it will fog your windows on a rainy humid day...

I appreciate all the help and replies. Tomorrow I will try out the auto function to see if that helps. Surprised to hear all the fogging comments as I have not experienced this even once. I'm in Florida, and if that is humidity related I would expect it to be terrible here.
