Default wrong size rotor. will it work?

A local car shop recently shut down in my home town and i was able to get a set of front baer eradi speed rotors for very cheap brand new. unfortunately, these are for the base c6 and i have a z51 car. the diameter of the eradi speeds are just slightly smaller than that of my stock z51 rotors. the brake pads stick out maybe a 1/4 inch past the rotor. If i were to just install these would there be any dangerous side effects? or possible damage to my car? or should i just try to sell them on the forum and cut my losses? I was really looking forward to adding these to my car :/

You just shoulldn't have pads hanging out over the edge of the rotor...that's a no-go. They will be easy to sell though.

For them to fit properly you would need to replace the caliper brackets with non-Z51 brackets.

Very cheap to do that. You'll be able to use the same pads and then have your Baer rotors working properly and safely.

just sell the Eradispeed's you have a make a profit -- then buy the Right size for your car -- no way I'd install a smaller sized rotor.

do it right -- brakes are important!

They're basically the same. The difference is the piston in the rear caliper is slightly smaller in the Z51 version.

I have used base rotors on my F55 car (same brakes as Z51) for the past 50K miles, because the GTO spare wheels won't fit with the larger calipers. I only use those wheels at the dragstrip, but don't want to change rotors anymore.

I've had a lot of 125 mph stops that seem no different from the other rotors with 2% more surface.

Pads will make far more difference than rotor size.

I'm no professional mechanic, but every part of me is thinking no go. Overhang cant be a good thing...in almost any reference. Sell them on eBay or Craiglist for a profit if you got them for an amazing price.

All you need is the smaller brackets. Its the same pads and calipers. Only the rotors and brackets are different. It is an easy swap. Personally I would sell them and stay with what you have.
