On my 2005 I got the "Check Charging System" all the time. More of a nuisance than a problem. When I first started getting that message, I have everything tested and found no problems. 11.5 on the voltage seem very low. I don't think mine ever got that low. I also had a Red Top but I always had it on a battery tender specifically for AGM batteries. You might want to pick one up. It might just resolve your issue. Plus a battery tender is always a good idea on the C6's.
Traded my 96 C4 and 02 Firebird for a basic auto C6 Now learning all over again. Check charging system warning, and loss of steering and a voltage of 11.5 on the gauge. Suspected the alternator pulley /clutch and after replacement no difference replaced battery to new Red Top. Still have this problem can’t drive my new vette, C6 2005 automatic.
Can anybody help please?

I would check the alternator. It may not be generating the 14.5 +/- volts that are required. Put a volt meter across the battery while the engine is off and see what the voltage is. It should be around 12.5 volts. Check it again with the engine running at a fast idle and it should be 14+/- volts depending on the condition of the battery.
If your not getting the voltage with the engine idling pull the alternator and take it to a rebuilder. For about 90-100 bucks they will replace the diode board assy which is usually the problem and you'll still have your original alternator...not some pacific rim piece of crap. They usually replace the bearings as part of the rebuild.
Thank you all for your suggestions while running the engine in my garage the belts came of, and on inspection I see the crank pulley had come off so apparently it had been slipping, giving me a loss of voltage.
My next issue is now replacing it. It appears to be a major project to remove the half the front end, to get strait at the pulley it also has to be tightened to 240 ft Lbs so for now I’m at a loss as to where to take the car I believed it will take around 6 hours for the job with special tools.
