So I've spent the last 2 days working on my 2007 C6 to GS full conversion. I have a couple of questions as I begin to finish installing the last few trim pieces:
1- The new front brake ducts have no hole to secure the ducting to the frame/wheel well behind the brakes. What have you done to secure them? Drill a hole w/self tapping screw? Drill a hole and use push pin retainer?
2- The bumper and fender don't line up perfectly around the headlight near the front of the hood. I've played with pushing the fender or bumper in an attempt to adjust but there's very little movement because the clips attaching the front bumper to the fender keep them linked together. Anyone have a work around to get these panels lined up better?
3- The clips for the front-rear mudguard. Are they all supposed to be one small size? They don't seem to work for the larger tabs towards the bottom of the wheel well. They lock in too soon and keep the guard pushed out. I would think there should be two sizes here.
fiberfab: I'll try to take a couple pics tomorrow if I can.
Sevinn: I did the same exact thing this afternoon after checking clearance when the wheel is fully turned. Felt confident your method would work and it did. Thanks.
Butwhatdoiknow: Who am I contacting? GM? In regards to all 3 issues?
Brooklync5: Stock GS body conversion. Bought the rear from partstaxi.com and the front from gmpartshouse.com.
So, as of now I've got the issue with the brake duct taken care of. I'm also thinking of just elongating the hole where the front bumper clips to the fender so that I can move the panels laterally by a fraction of an inch. I think I'll save that for another day.
I'm still baffled as to how to get the mudguards secured properly without either trimming the tabs shorter or getting deeper clips. Any ideas?
Anyone have trouble with the front, rear fender guards not sitting tight to the fender on a gs or z06? This has really got me frustrated....
Yup, and thats why i scrapped doing the conversion on my 07 and ended up buying a 2013 GS to go along side it (well that wasn't the exact reason but I did scrap the front wide body conversion after I bought it).. No matter what I did, the top of the splash guard would stick out. However what I did notice was that the splash guard I received for the front widebody was a once piece guard. My 2013 GS is a two piece..

Well, after hours, and I mean hours, of scouring the forum I finally found a thread with someone who had the same issue. It looks like u just have to trim the tabs back a little. I knew this would be a possible fix but didn't want to have to modify a factory part without knowing why. Im going to try to install them again this afternoon. Hopefully it works.
