Default PCM software source code

I'm an embedded software engineer. Where can I obtain the source code for the C6 PCM? If that can be done then where can I obtain the development tools such as compiler? What processor does the PCM use?

I would love to see what this can do and how it does it and make enhancements.

Wouldn't it be great if GM supplied an API for the car...but I think all their software in the various computers is proprietary and not available.

I thought the C6 had an ECM, a TCM and a BCM, all separate units, not one PCM?

On the C6 there are several modules on the high speed LAN. The PCM, BCM, EBCM, VCIM, ESC and TCM.

Mark my words...computer security will become a big issue with cars in the future...no reason to think that hackers will ignore car computers. Just think of all the fun mischief...

Off hand, I'd say apply for employment and sign the required NDA's
with GM. Then maybe you'll be given access to the source.

Your questions sound like you haven't been in the business long.

No manufacturer (ie. GM, Ford, or Agilent, or Lockheed Martin), is
going to publicly disclose intellectual property that they might have
hundreds of millions invested in (in the form of R&D).

I'd be interested to know how secure the data in these new C7
boxes are. They could easily eliminate after market tuners from
screwing around with their calibration tables - unfortunately it would
"probably" create another headache in the form of having to build a
secure key distribution mechanism to all the authorized GM dealers.
Might be more hassle than it's worth.

I've been writing embedded software for over 40 years. I thought I'd ask. You be surprised what intellectual property is in the public domain.
