I know it shows where to place jack in manual but has anyone lifted from the side using a lifting puck where the body is cut-out I know this is one of the spots for a four-point lift or jack stands but wondering if O.K. for one point lift?
yes i have done it plenty of times but have to drive on double 2x10 ramps front and rear
When at the track I use a couple of 2x6s about two ft long one on top of the other and staggered about a foot. I place them in front of or behind the main wheel I want to lift and then move the car until that wheel is resting on top of the highest board. That gives me enough room to get the jack under the car. Sometimes I will lift the complete side of the car or I will just lift the one wheel. One thing you can do is jack at one of the front lifting slots and get the car as high as the jack can lift it, then put a jack stand under the front cradle on that side and let the jack down. As the car comes down on the jack stand the front wheel on the opposite side of the car will come off the ground and you have the car lifted on one jack stand. Been doing this for ever. Worked very well on my 2 C5s and C6.
