I recently had my carbon fiber diffuser installed, but the backup lights didn't fit. Not a big deal because they never really helped that much to begin with. But I would like to replace the opening. Would it work to put a back up light cover in or over the opening? Of course I would go to a professional shop to do it if I was not able to. Just seeing what ideas people have.

Guess I would be complaining to the company that sold me the diffuser and make them fix it, or take it back. No excuse for **** products.
It would fit, but require quite a bit of work and the body shop already spent a month on the car and I am finally out of there. Not going to go through the process of contacting the manufacture and all of that stuff because it fits and looks great. I was going to black out the lights anyways, but some diffusers don't even have an area for the lights, but I don't think APR or breathless make $h1t products even though it is not from APR Anyhow, does anyone have any input on what I mentioned.

For what it's worth, I agree. And for what that thing probably cost, I would expect the back-up lights to be re-mountable without modifications being necessary to the piece. I mean, how may stock C6 Corvettes has anyone ever seen that did not have back-up lights? Looks like amateur hour at whomever manufactured that defuser. I'd for sure send it back and either expect them to make it right, or refund my purchase price.
And no, sorry, I don't know how to fabricate covers for the holes. I would think, though, that any good body shop could fill the voids.
Compared to what I had to deal with in the case of this particular body shop, this is a small matter. They should have had my car ready in 3-4 days. Took them a month and a day because they pushed my car behind everyone else. They should have taken off the body panels to make sure the fender and bumper fit and I had a buyer for the parts. After 3 1/2 weeks they finally got the parts off and then saw that the bumper needed more touch ups because they didn't get things fitted before painting. Had to refund the original buyer and miss a big car show in Florida. And additional rental car charges.
So compared to all that I had to deal with, this is nothing. I actually saw how they could put the lights in but did not want twittle dee and twittle dumb working on it. I will go to the original body shop from last
Year.
So taking back the diffuser is not an option because I am out of town most of the summer and I do not want to deal with anymore of what I had to deal with. If anyone has suggestions for what I me ruined please post. Please refrain from posting if you are going to saw more like the above posts because it is not helping. I appreciate it but not what I want to do. Plus, look at a lot of the aftermarket diffusers (SS Vettes, Apr, Breathless) and get do not have back up lights on the pics of their cars. I don't want to mention the company because they do good business on this forum and it wouldn't be fair to them.
I think you should indeed mention the company. I am ready to buy a carbon fiber diffuser now but have not pulled the trigger for this exact reason. I want to make sure the one I purchase fits perfectly (including the backup lights). There is a lot of discussion on this forum about difficulty getting them to fit correctly. That's why we're here. To help each other out and look out for each other.
Guess I will keep the backup lights but another shop is going to do the job.
But the same question goes to someone who has one of the aforementioned diffusers that don't have openings for back-up lights. I've done a lot of work to this car and have no intentions to resale this car.
This thread hasn't addressed the question I had. Any questions or helpful responses please pm me.
