I can't remember but there is a way if you push two buttons at the same time on air vent/AC controls it will give you the most current temp which will be higher then temp. will go down.
Anyone know which two buttons?
Mine always shows the outside temp without pushing anything on my 2005.
It only updates the temp about every 5 minutes. There is a way to update it manually by simultaneously pressing two of the HVAC buttons at the same time. I can't recall which two at this moment.
Works well when you've just washed your car and have the HVAC on Auto mode. The temp sensor is usually 20* lower than the actual ambient temps due to the cold water on the temp sensor. If it's real hot outside and the HVAC is in Auto mode it won't want to cool the car as fast as you may like.

Same here on my 2005. You don't have to do anything to get temperature.
This is just something extra you can do to get the most current temp. which would be like 100+ then temperature will go down. Did it before per instructions in here. Will have to do a search to find it.

that's probably it but I wonder which 2 buttons you have to push at same time. Can't remember
Just curious Where is the unit that measures the outside temp? Somewhere in front bumper? What does it look like? If it goes bad is it an easy change? On another note I notice now that it takes about 10 minutes for me to get a temp from time I start car up.
It's three buttons simultaneously...1st, 2nd and fourth from the right. The sensor is on the passenger side just in front of the radiator, so if the car is warmed up and has been sitting, the sensor picks up lots of radiator heat...that's the reason it waits for movement.
