Recently purchased a 2008, C-6 Hertz ZHZ. This car had lived it's life in Florida during its' rental days, and was subsequently purchased by a local. The car was resold and now resides in Ky.. My problem is, in its' second ownership, the car was lowered and we are now trying to raise the car to a heigth that will stop the scraping, but the bolts are frozen. I'm looking for anyone that has experienced this and possible remedies for the issue. We have used every conceivable option known to no avail, and still unable to loosen the bolts. "HELP" would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!!!!!!
On offense but are you sure you're working on the correct parts?
First advice is to squirt some good penetrating oil on the bolts and let it soak for at least 24 hours. Second thing is to get the weight off the springs before trying to turn the bolts.
Here's a video on Lowering, obviously you would turn the opposite way to raise:
I think (not sure) they turn opposite of normal. Are you turning them the right way.
Thanks for your response. We have actually tried both directions attempting to break them loose but nothing seems to move. I feel it's the salt corrosion

Yes, We've done it numerous times on other cars but never had this problem. We have actually tried several penetrating solutions and let them work, as you suggested, but nothing has worked yet !!!!!!
I tried to lower mine a few weeks ago only to find they are frozen as well. I have done everything I can think of to loosen them up, but nothing has worked. It looks like you have to replace the spring when this happens.

I guess that would be a last resort. We're being extremely careful to not break a bolt but it's odd that all 4 are frozen
Have you placed a jack under the spring to remove all tension before trying to turn the bolt?
No, We haven't tried that yet. We've had the car on a lift but have not taken the weight off the springs. Thanks for the response and we'll give this a shot !!!!!!!!!
Even if you restore the height to factory specs., you will still scrape. All C6s scrape. It is the front air dam (all three pieces) that come into contact with high spots in the road, curbs, driveways, etc. The owner's manual clearly states that this is normal; that the air dam pieces are pershiable items, just like tires, brake pads, clutch discs, etc., that require replacement from time-to-time as part of routine maintenance. I have an '08 coupe with 30,000 miles and have replaced all three pieces once in 5 years; ran about a hundred bucks. Scraping is normal!

Read the link in post #3.
You have to unload the spring! Otherwise you're trying to move 700 pounds with that tiny fine thread bolt.

Thanks for all the posts. We have not tried jacking the springs to take the weight off the bolts but will do that tomorrow. We have had the car on a lift and have had no luck so far so maybe this will work. I let you know soon !!!!!!!!!!
Is the only reason you're trying to raise it to keep the front air dam from scraping? It's made to scrape, so why bother? Most people lower their Vettes, not raise them.

We are only trying to raise ir a little. It's currently lowered to the max and scrapes on everything. We realize that they are built low and totally understand that low is much better looking but this car is slammed on the ground.

Check to see if leaf springs are broken if wheel cleaner was used it will weaken and cause the spring to break. Had one on the forum not long ago complaining of it scraping.

So many people miss this truth. Put in a Koni suspension and it's just all day....slowing down doesn't matter.
