427 Vert a 'bargain'
So, after some consideration, I ended up with the 427. Still a lot of money, but it is much different from what I had. Really happy with the decision...
Anyway, I was glancing through the Corvette Black Book and happened to notice that for 2013, the base Z06 was only $325 less than the base 427. Given the normal spread for a convertible, that was a surprise. And the 427 includes such things as MSRC, carbon fiber hood, 19s and 20s with the machined face wheels, etc, that are options on the Z06. In fact, optioned to a similar level, the Z06 is almost $4000 more than the 427.

The only thing missing from a 427 that is on the Z06 is the aluminum frame, so it seems the 427 is really quite the bargain!
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I'm hoping their owners take good care of them and keep the mileage low so I can get one at a good price in a few yrs.

Goddamit I am now having an identity crisis!!

I now have a fun weekend car that is paid for, has a nice warranty, and plenty of power for me. In my eyes, it was in fact a good buy for everything you get. for the ten guys who go to the track every weekend, it isnt for them, and thats cool. for the rest of us who bought it for the sheer enjoyment as a reward for a job well done each day, it is exactly what we wanted. there is no right or wrong vette to own, each has its merits and the owner usually loves it.
