I think you will find "most" troopers will be the more professional type when you have contact with them. Most states, including mine, the state police is the cream of the crop police department wise. Therefore, you will see more quality people applying for this job. Followed by 26 weeks of what was hell (academy), you will see that "most" troopers are far less inclined to act stupid and unprofessional on the job. All state police academies follow a military type of operation and discipline, and someones foot is up your a$$ the entire 26 weeks. Even when I was a local, I always wanted to be a trooper because of how professional and squared away they were, when I worked and incident with them. I know my agency has the highest level of self policing, and if you screw up, they break their foot off in your rear.............
I was waiting for my wife in Sears parking lot today when a Mass. Statey walked by car and said "Christ! Looks like it's doin' 90 just sittin' there! I said Yeah-- as long as your radar gun doesn't say so....Just got a big grin LOL
Great comment by the officer and great come back.
Most officers in my area are very nice and put their pants on one leg at a time just like us. A few with attitudes seem to ruin the reputation. I'm sure that anyone that puts up with the stupid things they see and attitudes they get will have an off day from time to time.
Great to see an officer with a sense of humor and appreciation for a great car.
I've had a local LEO pull up in a parking lot and ask about my Corvette, acting friendly obviously wanting to start a conversation. Shortly we were joined by a county sheriff. Bored maybe, killing time, but also a couple of car guys who just liked Corvettes. Passing cars probably thought they were busting some dangerous criminal.
I hear the State Police in Pennsylvania are awesome, respectful and very professional lol... I've explained it to many people, we are a percentage of society, some fall through the cracks. You will find most of us love cars and people in general or would not have taken the job. Glad to see some good experiences with law enforcement. Let's go Penguins!!!
I got popped for 73 in a 65 a few weeks ago by a local city officer. I was traveling along the flow of traffic with about 4 other vehicles. I was actually passed by a Buick and when I pulled over I asked him why he stopped me. His honest answer was that my car stood out in the pack. When I provided my dept. ID and asked when that mattered as a point of law he said I had a nice car and to be careful. I have never stopped anyone because of the type of car they were driving.
I was with my mom and dad years ago,we stopped at a rest area and right after we got back on the road were pulled over for "following too close" there were no cars around us!! I was driving,we were on our way home from Chicago,my license was in my bag in the trunk,so I got out of the car to get it,meanwhile another trooper pulled over on the highway as I hand him my license as he's looking at it asked me..."what do you think we should do with people who carry drugs in their car?" I said they should be prosecuted. He handed my back my license and said..."be more careful driving"
I got back in the car and we were on our way. To this day I believe that cop profiled us at the rest area and followed us because me and my dad have tattoos and we were wearing sleeveless T-shirts. This was in 1995. Ohio troopers are A-holes!!!!
OP I'm glad you had a good experience!!
Yeah, the OSHP is not the greatest people to deal with, and their tactics are borderline criminal.
In massachusetts we call state troopers "Staties! As far as police go they are not bad. They had Whithey Bulger cornered, but got sideswiped by the FBI.Watch the movie,The Departed!
Yes I saw that movie and have it. Got confusing on who was who...everyone was looking for the rat

Thank you for your honesty and service.
It's funny how we all have different perspectives and experiences. I suspect that most will not get pulled over because of the type of car you drive BUT a few will and that changes your perspective if you are the one being pulled over.
with that response to an Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper, you would have heard . . . Driver's License, Registration and Proof of Insurance. (probably not even get a Please)
If you have ever encountered an Ohio Highway Patrol you will know they have NO sense of humor or compassion for any violator. I don't even live in Ohio and I know to keep it no more than 5MPH over the limit. An Ohio trooper once told me, 5 (over) your fine, 9 (over) your mine and they take it to heart.
I realize times have changed since I was on the road stopping motorist for moving or equipment violations. But some things never change. What is said by the motorist upon the encounter with the trooper/officer determines how the situation will be handled, again only speaking for myself. Numerous times I was greeted with "I wasn't speeding", "The light was yellow" , "I stopped for that stop sign", before I even said one word!
Personalities aside the cop is doing their job, its the manner that they do it can be questioned.

can't be as bad as California Highway Patrol (CHP robots).
I have been a police officer in a small city just north of Boston for 30 years and I have lost count of the times I have actually pulled people over to admire their car up close. I will admit though that a drivers attitude has determined the outcome of many a traffic stop, a "Yes Sir or No Sir " has often made the difference between a fine and a warning.
Right after I purchased the 'Vette, I got pulled over in my small town on my way to work at 5:00am. The cop informed me I was doing 45mph in a 35mph. The speed limit sign right above us showed a posted limit of 40mph, but I was careful not to argue. Anyway, the officer said there had been alot of complaints of people speeding through and endangering the pedestrians (It was 5:00am. The cop and I were the only awake humans for miles. There were no pedestrians).
I was smart enough to keep my mouth shut and agreed to be more careful in the future. No ticket was issued (thankfully), but I have no doubt he pulled me over to check out the brand new Corvette. Truly, I wasn't at all upset, I was not even late for work. In fact, I smile whenever I think of that traffic stop...
Except the one that gave me a ticket around exit one on the Mass pike. 60 in a 55 MPH zone! I ask if he was kidding and he said they were serious about speeders. I was driving my Wife's Mercury Sable Station Wagon!!!!! That was a long time ago. I think the limit is 65 now.
State police in Virginia, no. The county police where I live are great.
It's the opposite for me. The VA State Police have been very professional for me and helpful along the 95 corridor towards DC. Here in Isle of Wight county, it's the local police department that has the superior attitude. None have stopped me in the Vette yet, but I was the ONLY car on 10/32 toward Suffolk and driving the Jaguar. The local cop was sitting about 100 yards from the county line between IOW and Suffolk and pulled me over for speeding. The speed drops from 55 to 45 within about 200 yards of the county line. I asked if I had not slowed properly and who was endangered, but he only said "license and registration" and started writing. I was on the way to get my taxes done in 2010...had been driving since 1968 without a speeding ticket!
I would appreciate talking to a "Statie" like the gentleman in Mass.!
Once got lit up on I-95 at 4:ooam doing something over the limit.
Trooper comes over and asks the usual. "do you know why I stopped you?"
I just told him "Dude it's a corvette"
He told me to slow down to 10 mph over.
