1000 for me on all of my cars. Only makes sense on premiums. I like keeping the money in my picket until it's needed.

I have 1k as well. The price difference between having 500 and 1k was pretty good. Something like $300/year different. So as long as I don’t get into more than 1 accident every 2 years, I come out head. And to give you an idea, the last accident I was in was back in 2004. So I saved a ton of money on the insurance premiums over the years.

I have only had my 2013 for a few months, but on my 2005 it was a garage queen. 29k miles after 8 years of ownership. But all my cars have the same coverage and deductible. No regrets at 1k deductible at all.

deductible $100/250...total ins. coverage cost = $600/year, and that will drop because of OnStar connected to my State Farm policy.

No insurance on my car. Only liability. I hate insurance. I have paid for a car by now, easily, by only having liability insurance.

Check with the insurance company to see the difference in premiums between having a $500 or $1000 deductible; then decide which is better for you. Also, shop around for insurance companies--their premiums can vary greatly.

Or maybe go up because of OnStar connected to State Farm.

I'm sure costs vary by state but I have $250 if it's an accident that's my fault. Otherwise $0 for everything else. I've had it this way for years and don't regret paying a few extra bucks in case of something happening such as some other fool banging up one of my cars.
