Can this stuff be used on the headlights if they have clear bra installed over the lenses?

what exactly are over the lenses? I've read on the forum that anything covering the lenses are bad because it traps the heat and deteriorates/cracks/spiderwebs the lens..... be careful.

As my post says, I have clear bra installed on the headlight lenses and was wondering if rainex would be OK to put on prior to a road trip.

I don't see why rain-ex would hurt any 3m bra. BUT I do remember from my high school detailer days that "degreaser" would clean the 3m bra in a weird way and make it look wrong/streaky.

I would not apply it and simply powerwash or just wipe bugs off of the 3m bra to be safe.

Default Rain x

Do not use on invis bra material. The product will dry out the material and cause yellowing.

I'm just making aware that many people think it is a cause of premature crazing/cracking/spiderwebbing. I'm not saying no one should ever use anything to cover, but giving them something to think about.

Read the label. Rain-X says don't get it on any painted surface. That is because it contains sulfuric acid. What will sulfuric acid do to the clear bra plastic? And the clear bra WILL cause heat problems over time. Rejex (or Zaino) will do as good or better than Rain-X at beading water and doesn't cause streaking on the windshield when it gets worn.

This is something I was unaware of. I have used Rainex for many years and never had any issues, whether it was on my windshield or a painted surface. It looks like I will stop using it and get some Rejex or Zaino.

My experience as well. When I got my Corvette, I re-read the directions on RainX and promptly threw it in the trash. Rejex works just as well without the possibility of paint damage.

One man's limited experience on windshields, not headlights:

I tried Rejex on the windshields of all 3 cars, it did a very poor job, about like RainX after 4 months.

RainX is better but tends to cause streaking in light rain, and wears off rather soon.

Aquapel seems best, claimed to be better than RainX but seems about the same to me; but much less streaking in light rain and lasts longer than RainX. More expensive. Available at Autogeek here.

I've had clear bra on the headlights of 3 Vettes and 2 Mercedes...never a problem. I think some of the older stuff was too thick and there were some isolated incidents of headlight covers crazing.
Just use a good paint sealer on the clear bra; headlights and painted areas that are covered. I've always been told to keep the clear bra sealed well.
