Hey guys im more than likely gonna powder coat my wheels bronze (my C6 is black) and I was thinking of plasti dipping the outside of my exhaust tips bronze (to tie in/compliment the bronze wheels) and then painting the inside of the tips with black grill paint....if done right I think it will look bitchin...thoughts?
if you are going to all the trouble and expense of having your wheels powder coated.
Why not get a spare set of exhaust tips and have them powder coated at the same time? (ceramic powder coat the exhaust tips if possible).
Very good point but what do you think of the idea of bronze tips to compliment the bronze wheels my friend? And now that I think about it powder coating wheels costs me $200...to order dual stage exhaust tips from the dealer, have them powder coated and pay to have someone remove and reweld the new exhaust tips would be way more expensive then simple plasti dip and grill paint...unless you meant something else

I don't think it would look bad.
But how often are you going to see the wheels and the exhaust tips at the same time?
If you are behind the car and cant see the wheels ... how would it look? (I don't know)
But then again .... sometimes subtle details go a long way.
You will see the tips (or notice them more) when they're bronze with bronze wheels...this is one set up most need to see to believe I think...i can see it in my head...as far as bronze plasti dip I've seen it on a Chevy forum website, forget the name...the tips will pop more and be a lot more noticeable if they are the only thing that match the wheels...like I said this thread probably needs pics that don't exist yet...

I'm torn on this one.... I would have to see it
I see what you mean as far as being behind a vette with bronze tips and nothing else...but very rarely are you behind a vehicle without ever seeing it's wheels...just a risk I would have to take I guess...
I just googled bronze plasti dip
and they have some type of procedure to get the bronze look...not exactly sure how they do it but the ability for bronze plasti dip is out there.
I'll admit, it might sound that way now...but if and when I post pics it will be far from rice...its the small details that make a car look sick...this will be a tasteful addition...if it comes out looking like crap or it doesn't match the wheels perfectly I'll just peel it off and paint it black...I want the car to look unique...and take a chance...plenty of black on black vettes out there already...they do look good tho

It would only look "ricer" if you use a bright bronze finish. IMO a black car with dark bronze wheels, ie the finish on the HRE or TSW wheels, looks killer. The bronze exhaust tips would be a nice touch as long as they are not too bright.
Have you thought about using a set of OE Cup repo's in dark bronze? That would truly be unique and look awesome!

Im a 5 spoke guy, but the tsws or cup wheels would look good I agree...and the tips would definitely be dark matt bronze...thanks for your reply...
Here is a pic of 19" ADR wheels I had on my scion back in the day placed next to my vette, they are dark bronze with silver lip (never wanted the silver lip but solid bronze was unavailable) anyway you can kinda see how it would look...which would be bitchin'
Okay brother not sure if you're being sarcastic, humorous, serious, smart or really trying to help me but I've had a few drinks and what you said might as well have been Japanese because all that stuff is way beyond me...hopefully you were being a smart ***
..I can appreciate that
After reading the post above by victorf again I think you were suggesting I use heat to turn the exhaust tip a different hue, granted it was a little too much in depth for me but I have seen the tips that have the blue/purple hue as a result of heat...I think you were suggesting to use that same process in a controlled environment to get a bronze hue? Anyway thanks for the reply, but I think I'll try plasti dip first...
