I just bought my coupe about a month ago, purchased an extended warranty plan, and about 6 days after I purchased the vehicle the car won't start. I've tried to get assistance from both the dealership I purchased the car from and the warranry company. neither of which is willing to help in any way. Even though my warranty is supposed to cover electrical issues, this warranty company is saying that they do not cover mt starting issue???
because I'm in my phone I'll make this quick. I've had the car at a local dealership that's been very helpful as much as they can beand we still cannot getbthis starting issue figured out. sometimes it starts without even pressing the brake pedal, sometimes it starts after it runs through the guage sweep about 10 seconds after you've tried to start the car normally, most of the time it doesn't start at all. also sometimes the brake lights just stay on for no reason. I've tried to search this topic and have tried a few of the suggestions mentioned, yet none have worked so far. is there anyone that can give me any help at all? thank you very much.
They should have done this already, but don't try to diagnose any electrical issues on these cars until the battery has been fully charged and then LOAD TESTED. Bad/weak batteries can cause all sorts of funky behaviors in these cars. Don't assume the battery is good...even if it's new.

I agree with all of the above. After that hopefully everything will work out okay. If not it seems like the brake pedal could be a problem. If it start's with out stepping on it and the brake lights are on the brake pedal switch could be causing a problem. Keep us posted.
Well I tried a brand spanking new battery after having more starting issues again today, and still no luck getting this car to start. what do I check next? If I buy a new bcm, I'd assume I have to have the dealership program it for me correct? It's really annoying that this is such a common issue but there isn't really any defined fix for it. I could do the bcm and that could still not be the solution. This definitely takes away a lot of the fun of owning my first vette
Instead, as VET4LES suggested, find out why your brake lights stay on and why you are sometimes able to start the engine without pushing the brake pedal.
Since you mention no other problems, I suspect the BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH is not working properly. I don't know how to test it. But at least take a look, see if it appears to engage & disengage.
Bottom Line: This is definitely fixable! Hopefully it's something simple. Let us know what finally fixes it.
I would check 2 things. Is the adjustment on the trans cable set up right and I would check the wires on the brake peddle, I didn't look to see where your from .These cars Hate water and they have crap for grounds. The key is it's not the same every time so I would not go replacing parts
Start cleaning conectors and see if the battery cables are tight.
