Corvette conundrum

BTW, I've put a few thousand on other Vettes during that year, too.m(60th GS, 72 Vert).
I've found that the more I drive my Vette, the more I love it.

My taurus is an auto and it's so much more easier and practical to get around town in. I'm 6-2" 250+lbs it's not pleasant to get in and out of. I save the vette for weekends/road trips/day trips. Since I live up in WI now I only use it in the summer only too. So the miles are limited.
just can't let mine sit....07 with 103,000+ miles. Been a great car and a true joy to drive.
And yes it is starting to get a few stone chips on it.......small price to pay.

My first Vette was a DD. It was an 82 CE that I bought in 85 with a low 2700 miles on the clock. I sold it in 1992 with 71K. My 89 and 98 were bought used with 5900 and 12K miles respectively. The 06 and 13 were bought new and currently sit at 24K and 2500 miles.
My average Vette ownership is about 7 years per car so I spend plenty of time with them.
I can give you my opinion after 36 years of continuous ownership and 17 Corvettes. The "newness" will wear off and the reality is that these cars are not very practical for a family.I have four children of which 3 are already grown and out of the house.
I love these cars, but many can't use them as much as we might like due to family and work obligations.I take clients out during the day so a Corvette does not allow that and anywhere we go as a family the Corvette is out too.
I suspect that many others are in similar situations.Unless you are single or an empty nester, family life just does not allow for a high mileage Corvette.
I still love the car and tried switching over the years to cars that had a back seat,Shelby Mustang and Challenger SRT8.I am just glad I did not sell the Corvette during those trials, because I ended up selling both of them after less than one year of ownership each.
My point being do not confuse lack of mileage to lack of love of the car.[/QUOTE
You make a lot of sense. They are not practical for all driving situations. I used to get asked why I didn't ride my Harley out to Sturgis...well, its hard to ride the bike with my wife and two kids on board, and all of our luggage. the same thing would apply to my vette. Drive it and enjoy as much as you can, and don't worry about how many miles you do or don't drive it.
My previous Corvettes were mostly used as a fun car on nice days and stored 6 months of the year when I lived up North.
Now I am retired and living in the South, my Corvette is my one and only car. I use it for both basic transportation and for fun. Most of the miles I put on this car are fun miles. I will drive a 100 miles to nowhere just for the shear driving experience!
Which ever way one chooses to use their Corvette....it is all good!
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I bought the C6 a month ago. I already drove it 1500 miles and did a track day in it. Z06 brakes are on the way and I'm contemplating coilovers.
My GTO lasted 2 months before it had brake upgrades and coilovers and a track day. Loved every one of the 40k miles I put on it in 2 years.
Silverados didn't come with 6.0 when I bought them. Within a year or so, it had a 6.0 swap, headers, exhaust, tune and locker.
I bought that one new in college. Drove it from Michigan to Cali, Cali to Maine, Michigan to NC to NYC and countless MI/NYC trips. It saw so many bad/dangerous road and off road conditions, I can't even think of them all. Up mountains in midnight blizzards to get the first run of the day, 4 wheels spinning in ice as it was sliding off the road, mud coming in the doors (less than 3k miles on it). Got through undergrad and grad school. Traded it with 160k miles on it for a Camaro that I drove for 20k miles and sold for $7k.
I do the same with my bikes. Only bike I ever bought new- before the paper plates were off it had 3 track days and a crash on it
3 years later, it has 3000+ track miles on it.That, to me, is getting your money out of your vehicles.

Have a great time

Thanks. Actually I have done all that and more.. took several trips up along the Icefields Parkway a few years ago. Stunning places to see!! Stayed at Lake Louise, and hiked the Athabasca!! We actually drove from Anchorage to Seattle in a Land Rover Defender 90 about 9 yrs ago... The Yukon Territory is magnificent!
I'll post pictures after we get back..Thinking about moving the trip from Aug to mid-Sept. Fewer crowds!!
