Waiting on a price quote for tinting my clear roof panel also. I've pretty much decided to go with 50% front windshield, 30% sides & 20 percent back (glued). Would love to go a little darker but for those road trips it might be an issue for night driving...
Just wondering if tinting the clear roof panel is worth the effore & $$$... The sun feels pretty good now that it's around 30 degrees out here in S/W Mo.
I used this on my glass roof, works great, it's cheap, installs in minutes, and is easily removable or put back on. Helps out a lot on the sun coming in and heating up the cabin.
Best thing it's only $25 so if you don't like it your not out very much.
In regards to tint quality in the "dot matrix" area of the rear hatch, it is indeed a tough area.
My recent tint turned out perfect, and I think this has something to do with it:
when they apply, they use a liquid that makes it difficult for the areas around the dot matrix to adhere (dot matrix are raised bumps on the inside glass).
as the liquid dries over a few days, the tint film becomes more able to stick, and they gave me a plastic wedge that is used to push down the tint film because I asked for it. They offered for me to come back in a few days, and I said, "sure I'll come back but why don't you show me how to push it down, maybe the more frequent effort will help." So 24 hours after application, i pushed down the dot matrix area. 24 hours after that, I did it again. I did it four times in four days, and then brought it back to them. They were really impressed, it looks perfect and they'd never the dot matrix area look that good (i.e. very even with no raised areas of non-adherence).
FWIW, we used 3M film.
Just got mine tinted & installer said to do same thing but said u gotta get the windows in sunlight till they hot & then push on it with hand. But to put s sock on your hand cuz glass will b hot. U do yours hot like that?

My guy did say that keeping it in sun will help dry the fluid out, be did not specifically say that I had to press it down while it was hot. When I went to press on it, sometimes it was hot and sometimes is was cool.
As I said, I was vigilant in pressing down on it with the plastic wedge tool and it turned out great.
(BTW, the engine on my Z06 blew from valve drop, after getting a new crate engine put in under GMPP I sold the car. I now drive a 2003 Toyota Camry. I would love to get back into a corvette one day, perhaps an E-force grand sport, but these days my road bike hobby is more fun than my car hobby was and is a small fraction of price and I'm in the best shape of my life.)
