Default Rerduced Engine Power Problem

I have a 2007 C6 with 130k miles. No problems ever. However a few weeks back it started rough and seemed like it was running on two cylinders. The engine light came on and the message board was "reduced engine power". I diconnected battery, cleaned the intake sensor screen real good. Put back together and ran fine for two more weeks.

Then I was on the toll road and jumped on it at about 80 and it immediately coughed and died dead coasting. Engine Light on and "reduced engine power". I diconnected the battery on the side of theroad, waited a minute, reconnected and ran fine for two or more weeks.

Then my wife was driving it after dropping me off at the airport, and she stopped for gas. When she went to restart, whacky instruments. Speedometers going on and off. Lights flickering. Radio working. Whens she stepped on the brake, everyting went dead. No start. I had her disconnect the battery and reconnect. Started fine. Runs fine.

Then did the same thing for me a week later. I tinkered with the accersory going back and forth and after about five times it started.

Battery is a good Optima battery only about a year old.

I put dignostic scanner from MATCO on the computer and no codes what so ever. I did it before disconnecting the battery. (Had been carrying the scanner with me for this occassion)

I probalby need to take to the dealer but I would shure like to know what is going on before I do so so they dont just tell me I need a new motor and transmission to fix it.

When it is running it runs fine. So I don't think it is mechancial?

Anybody got any ideas or diagnostics I can do?

Sammy

Sorry for your problem, I would look very closely at your battery connections. Are you sure the battery terminal connectors are still clamping tight? I don't think it is your charging system, but it is remotely possible, maybe have the alternator and battery checked at an
autozone or somewhere that is close to you.

always start by checking the battery and cables. do a voltage drop from battery to alternator and battery to starter. if they check out ok then i would start looking into a replacement gas pedal assembly possibly the throttle body, but most likely the gas pedal @ $100. take the intake tube off look at the throttle body, move the blade and feel for any movement that feels like it is binding, clean it and the MASS with appropriate cleaner. A bad MASS will screw up the fuel trims and make the engine run bad, but should trip the "MIL"
engine internals will not self heal when the battery is undone, electronics will.

good luck
