I own a C5 but my friend who is not a forum member owns a C6 and is dealing with an issue :
" When I get in my 2006 Vette and start the car the rear view mirror map lights come on and stay on until I turn the motor off. I tried per the manual pushing the bottom on the mirror for 3 and 6 seconds and all other times. It will not go off. This applies to both sides of the mirror map lights. "
Thank you in advance for your HELP - What's the solution?
The Map / Reading lights come on when the a door is opened. If they do not go out when door closes then it is possible that the door switch(s) are bad.
Map lights on the corvette are also considered dome lights and the button associated with the dash board lights also controls the dome light function.
Just push it to turn that function off.
Don't ask me how I know.
I had that happen to me once and had to push the dimmer switch to turn off the lights. I accidentally pushed it when I was cleaning the dash. Drove me nuts for a few days.

Many here have pushed the dimmer switch while cleaning the dash and didn't realize it. I did it about 3-4 months ago after having seen it posted here 8-10 times.
The owner's manual does tell you that turns on/off all the interior lights.
OK so I passed on what u guys posted and he emails be back " LOL, now one of my taillight blinker light is out. The one that blinks when making a right turn. I took it to a tire dealer one time and he replaced the bulb for free. However it was kinda ridiculous. They put the car on the hoist and about 3 or 4 men working under the car to replace the light, took about half an hour, omg. Tire dealer sold me some tires so he did it as a courtesy. "
Sorry for the bother but what do u guys think is going on ?

Interior Lights
This helps a lot, I couldn't get them off when exiting. Pushed the button, and they're off however...when I exit the car the lights stay on for about 10 mins, if I leave the window down I can reach in push the button an they go off, but is there a way to reduce the wait time if all closed up??
Normally, the lights stay on briefly after you open and close the door; like when entering or exiting the car. There may be a sensor that keeps them from coming on in bright light like outdoors, but I haven't tried to look that one up.
There is a 10 minute timer on the lights, unless you open or close the door again. If the lights are staying on for 10 minutes, that really means they are trying to stay on forever but the timer is shutting them down. "All" you need to do is figure out what's going on with the switches, trying to keep them on.
Describing this stuff in print is a lot harder than actually doing it on the car.
